On June 20, 2016 just one day before his 34th birthday my brother, Lindsey F. Jones, was tragically taken from us due to gun violence. His life was cut short far too soon, and our family was forever changed. The pain of losing a loved one in such a senseless and violent way is deep, lasting, and often invisible to the world around us. But we are not alone too many families, siblings, and children are carrying this same weight, trying to heal in silence.

The Lindsey F. Jones Foundation was created to honor Lindsey’s life, legacy, and spirit. But more than that, it was founded to raise awareness about the devastating impact of gun violence especially on siblings and children who are often overlooked in the grieving process.

Our mission is to support, uplift, and advocate for those who’ve lost loved ones to gun violence. We want to create safe spaces for healing, provide resources for emotional recovery, and amplify the voices of families affected by this crisis. Through education, outreach, and community building, we hope to turn our pain into purpose.

This foundation is our way of saying your grief matters, your story matters, and you are not alone

"We increased every year over the past four years ... to finally be showing a decrease is a good thing," said Police Chief Scott Thurmond.

from Birmingham Police Department

As a community, we must work harder to save our youth. This year alone, six teenagers have been victims of gun violence. The Birmingham Police Department is committed to break the cycle.

“We can’t start to become numb to violence. It’s passed time we prioritize the lives of our youth.”- Mayor Randall Woodfin

Good Morning SCAV family! Just a little food for thought this morning!

After grief, some may say, "the world goes on"...but to those who are in the midst of grief, they feel as though they have truly lost "their world".

If you know of someone who has lost a loved one, please reach out to them way past the funeral.

Remember this: Even if you do not know the right words to say, just being there and loving them goes a long way.

I had to share this with you all.. Please share! Everyone that has lost a loved one to violence please read. I know it’s hard to not be upset or retaliate but we have to look at the bigger picture!

Ever wonder how God wants us to treat someone who has wronged us? When someone has wronged us, we will naturally want to turn to bitterness and resentment...possibly even revenge...but God has a better way.

When people have wounded us or the people we love, we can feel as though we have a right to be bitter or to retaliate.

In those times, it is imperative that we remember the truths of scripture and obey God's word.

God's way is simply this: never take revenge, bless those who persecute you, pray God's blessing on them, never curse them, live at peace with everyone, be honorable in all you say or do, and conquer evil with good.

Wow! That's a very tough and tall order to follow sometimes! The more intense the offense, the tougher it can be to accomplish this difficult task.

When we take matters into our own hands, or we manipulate a situation through motives of revenge, we are stealing from God. God says that revenge is His.

He knows exactly what His purposes are for each situation He has allowed.

We tend to mess things up when we become bitter and when we refuse to trust God.

If this seems like a huge unattainable work, it helps to know that our offender is not completely the true problem. The Bible says we do not war against humans--our actual war is with the enemy...against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The enemy loves to create chaos in our lives because it keeps us far away from our LifeLine...God. If the enemy can sabotage or compromise our relationship with God, he can continue to create even more opportunities of loss in our lives.

Today, allow these verses to free you completely from your bitterness. You no longer need to plan how you are going to get back at someone...give that to God and allow Him to work mightily in your offender’s life. Your job is to live peaceably around others and to be honorable in all you do. Leave the job of holding your offender accountable to God.

He is able to mightily work in your life and your offender's heart....but you must first trust and obey His plan. God doesn't desire for your life to be bombarded with bitterness. In fact, He wants to give you life brimming with blessings....an abundant life to the fullest!

On the hardest days when we think we cannot accomplish or obey God's way of dealing with enemies, meditate on Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"

Ask Him for His strength, grace, and help today!

Let’s keep this family lifted in prayer, they lost their baby to gun violence this past Sunday. From my understanding there is no one in custody. If you can help this family or police in anyway please come forward. Thank you.
