FY 2025-2026 review
March 1 to March 1.
We, the Crescent, will continue the mission for the people.

Over the past two years, Crescent Cultural Community Center has continued to serve the West End community of Birmingham (35211) with humility, dedication, and purpose.

Through youth programs, violence prevention workshops, wellness engagement, community support, and cultural programming, our team has had the privilege of serving over 30,000 community engagements across two fiscal years.

This work is only possible because of the commitment of our staff, volunteers, partners, and the trust of the community we serve. We remain grateful and committed to showing up, creating safe spaces, and building opportunities for our youth and families.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the mission.

Human Trafficking Awareness Month is not just about awareness β€” it’s about accuracy, accountability, and impact.
Survivor-led professionals bring lived experience that no textbook, policy brief, or training manual can replace. Survivors understand the realities of coercion, control, and exploitation because they’ve lived them. That insight is critical to shaping prevention efforts, survivor-centered services, and policies that actually work.
When survivors lead, programs are more trauma-informed, responses are more ethical, and systems are held accountable. Survivor-led expertise ensures that awareness efforts do not unintentionally cause harm, silence lived truths, or center narratives that miss the real needs of those affected.
This month β€” and beyond β€” we must move past performative awareness and commit to meaningful change by listening to, investing in, and following the leadership of survivors.
NOTHING ABOUT US...WITHOUT US!!!

Internationally, what's wrong with U.S. invasion of Venezuela

This is how it is viewed under international law and global norms, not U.S. domestic politics.

1. Violation of national sovereignty
Venezuela is a recognized sovereign state.
Invading or occupying it would violate the core international rule that countries control their own territory.
This principle exists to prevent powerful nations from dominating weaker ones.

2. Breach of the UN Charter (illegal use of force)
Under Article 2(4) of the UN Charter:
States may not use force against another state’s territorial integrity or political independence.
An invasion would only be legal if:
The UN Security Council authorized it, or
The U.S. acted in self-defense after an armed attack.
Neither condition applies to Venezuela.

3. Illegal regime change
International law rejects foreign-imposed regime change.
Removing or installing a government by force undermines:
Self-determination
Democratic legitimacy
Even unpopular governments cannot legally be overthrown by outside militaries.

4. Precedent problem (global instability)
If the U.S. invaded Venezuela, it would legitimize similar actions by other powers.
This weakens international law and encourages:
Territorial conquest
Proxy wars
Escalation between major powers
Countries like Russia and China frequently cite U.S. interventions as justification for their own actions.

5. Collective punishment and humanitarian harm
Invasions almost always:
Harm civilians
Disrupt food, water, and medical systems
International humanitarian law requires proportionality and necessity, which large-scale invasion fails to meet in Venezuela’s case.

6. Undermining multilateral institutions
Acting without UN approval weakens:
The United Nations
International dispute resolution
It signals that power matters more than rules, eroding global trust.

7. No international consensus
Most countries, especially in Latin America, oppose military intervention.
Regional norms emphasize non-intervention, shaped by long histories of foreign interference.

Bottom line

Internationally, a U.S. invasion of Venezuela would be considered illegal because it violates sovereignty, breaks the UN Charter, imposes regime change by force, harms civilians, destabilizes global order, and sets a dangerous

West End family, this is our moment to rise up and shape our future. For too long, decisions have been made about our community without our input. This survey is our chance to make our voices heard and ensure that every individual's story, concern, and idea counts. The Lion's Roar of Peace is a community-led movement because we believe that real change happens when people are seen, heard, and valued. By partnering with local non-profits, service providers, and resource providers, we're putting our own sweat equity in to drive positive change. This survey is an opportunity for your lived experience to inform solutions that truly reflect the needs of West End residents. If you live, love, or care about West End, your voice matters. Take a few minutes to complete the survey and help ensure that programs, resources, and decisions are shaped by our community's needs, not assumptions. Scan the QR code, share your truth, and pass it on to a neighbor. Together, let's unleash the power of West End voices to drive West End solutions.
