🗣 CALLING ALL COMMENTS: Alabama Department of Transportation is now accepting public comments for a proposed bridge replacement in Coosa County.

It's located on US-231 over Hatchet Creek near Rockford. The proposed project is located on AL-21 (US-231) north of the town of Rockford in Coosa County. The project will replace the bridge on AL-21 over Hatchet Creek with a modern structure that meets current design standards. The bridge will be replaced on new alignment west of the existing bridge. Additional right-of-way will be needed to implement the project. No detour will be needed as the existing bridge will remain open during construction.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route... and we want to encourage them to make the canoe launch safer for all!

🌧️ Showers don’t just bring flowers, they bring mud.

Spring/summer rains can wash tons of sediment into our creeks and rivers, especially from construction sites, bare soil, and eroded streambanks. The first step to any investigation is to get knowledge of it, and that's where YOU come in!

If you see a muddy creek after a storm, remember to: SEE. SNAP. SEND.

COMING SOON!
People Of The Coosa featuring Robin Simms
Robin is a mother, an angler, and an advocate for the river.
“I’m trying to develop programs that reach out to youth and kids the way I wish I had as a kid to help me understand how lucky and fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful state. Once we get kids on the canoes and get them immersed in the environment, they will become stewards of that river and will have a sense of ownership of protecting it.”
