Sometimes, the right school changes everything.

When Courtney Klotz saw her daughter Mary-Camila struggling, she also saw her talents and potential. That experience helped inspire Courtney to create Renaissance School, a school built around the idea that students’ strengths and learning needs deserve equal attention.

The impact has been remarkable. Students who once struggled are gaining confidence, making academic progress and finding joy in learning again.

And Mary-Camila’s story has come full circle. She’s graduated from Flagler College a year early as a presidential scholarship recipient and preparing to begin her career with Disney.

Every child deserves the chance to discover what they’re capable of. Sometimes, that starts with finding the right school.

Every child learns differently. The right school recognizes that.

At St. Michael’s Catholic School in Auburn, Alabama, supporting students with unique learning needs is part of the school’s approach to education.

Teachers are trained in Orton-Gillingham instruction, the school employs former special education teachers and smaller class sizes give educators more opportunities to tailor instruction to individual students.

For families navigating dyslexia, hearing impairments, vision challenges or other learning needs, finding a school that understands their child can make a real difference.

As Principal Debbie Brooks puts it, children with disabilities deserve the opportunity to attend a private school if that’s what their parents believe is right for them.

A new opportunity is coming to Alabama. Do families know about it?

The Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC) launches January 1, 2027. But before families can use a new opportunity, they have to know it exists and understand how it fits with the options already available to them.

AAA. CHOOSE Act. Private scholarships. Homeschooling resources. Now EFTC.

The choices are growing. So is the need for clear information.

We’ll keep sharing what Alabama families, schools and donors need to know as more EFTC guidance becomes available.

The Education Freedom Tax Credit is getting clearer, and 2027 is getting closer.

New Treasury guidance means married couples filing jointly may potentially claim up to $3,400 in federal tax credits when each spouse makes a qualified contribution, creating a new opportunity to support scholarships.
