Our Birth Doula Training is a mix of learning, hands-on practice, and plenty of time to ask questions and learn from each other. You’ll get:

We are incredibly thankful to United Way of Central Alabama, Inc. (United Way of Central Alabama) for their generous support of BirthWell Partners! 💛

With their support, we will be able to train doulas from Shelby County, helping expand access to doula care for families in the area. Investing in doulas means investing in families and building a stronger maternal health workforce right here in our community.

Doulas support all kinds of births!

Vaginal birth, cesarean birth, induction, medicated, unmedicated, and everything in between.

There is no one “right” way to give birth, and your doula is there to support you through it. They can help you feel informed, prepared, and supported throughout your birth experience.

And doulas don’t replace your partner or support people. They’re there to support you alongside the people you want by your side.

Whatever your birth looks like, you deserve support.

Join us for our next Feed That Baby class on September 10th!

This class provides a relaxed, supportive space to learn about different feeding options, ask questions, and build some confidence. We’ll cover breastfeeding, hand expression, paced bottle feeding, ways support people can help, and more

The class is online and open to pregnant parents, new parents, and support people! Come learn with us and leave feeling a little more prepared for feeding your baby!

Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Cost is $10.

Our Birth Doula Trainings are getting a new look 👀

Starting with our October training, we’re moving from two back-to-back weekends to one Thursday–Saturday training weekend.

We know that committing to two weekends can be tough, so we’re making the format a little more manageable while still keeping the same great training, hands-on practice, and time to connect with other aspiring doulas.

We’re also excited to welcome our Director, Susan, as our new Doula Trainer! After training more than 500 doulas, Dalia is retiring from her role, and we’re so grateful for everything she has brought to our trainings over the years.

Last week, we hosted our Alabama State Team Site Visit for the Institute for Medicaid Innovation’s Doula Learning and Action Collaborative!

This three-year project brings together organizations, healthcare providers, doulas, and community partners across Alabama to strengthen the doula workforce and advance sustainable pathways for Medicaid reimbursement of doula care.

During the site visit, we had the opportunity to connect, share updates, learn from one another, and continue building a shared vision for improving access to high-quality, community-based doula support across the state.

At BirthWell Partners, we provide free birth and postpartum doula services to Medicaid-eligible families across Alabama while also training the next generation of community doulas.
