Saylor's Village hosted our first commemorative event yesterday to remember both Saylor Ro and the village that can form from the experience of grief and loss.

If you missed this event, there are still ways to show up and give back to the Village and the greater Birmingham community. Our next volunteer opportunity will be Wednesday, October 28th with UAB's Institute for Human Rights.

We will be working in our South Titusville garden from 8am to noon. Whether you have expertise in weeding, building, trimming or watering, we ask that you show up and pitch in. Water and Gatorade will be provided, and we will be placing orders for more shirts. Anybody that has volunteered 3 times gets a free Village t-shirt.

They say with great loss comes great love.

This has been most true in the life of the Village.
Join us next Thursday, October 15th from 3:30 to 5:30pm at UAB Institute for Human Rights, 1401 University Blvd, Room 402 as we share the origins of Saylor's Village. Food and drink will be provided, so be sure to register using the QR code on the flyer or UAB's campus calendar link below.
Two guest speakers will be engaging the audience as we highlight International Infant and Pregnancy Loss Awareness. We look forward to hosting and learning alongside you.

This summer Saylor’s Village supported more than 100 Birmingham residents, from Westend to Inglenook, by sharing fresh produce, buying school supplies, leading gardening workshops, and strengthening Birmingham connections. Sustainable practice is central to our mission, and we’re working to make the garden greener and more resilient. To do that we need a dedicated water line and backflow valve, and the current estimate is $2,800. This is more than we can cover right now.

If you can help with a donation, volunteer lead, or a resource connection, it would make a huge difference for the community we serve.

Always with care,
Kizzi
