Equal Access Birmingham A free student-run clinic through UAB School of Medicine

Equal Access Birmingham is University of Alabama School of Medicine run student initiative that works to improve the health of vulnerable populations in Birmingham, AL. Since 2012, EAB has organized and managed a weekly student run free clinic for the homeless and underserved. Additionally, EAB staffs a Wednesday night free clinic at MPower, holds monthly community health screenings, and provides health education.

This week’s volunteer spotlight is Will Akin!!!

“Will is a first-year medical student who has consistently shown up for our Street Medicine Clinics with dedication and enthusiasm. He arrives early to help load the car, assists with setting up and breaking down the clinic, and ensures everything is put away at the end of the day. Beyond his reliability, Will is approachable and kind, and our patients truly enjoy seeing a familiar, welcoming face in him.
