is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides innovative enrichment and mentoring programs designed for adolescent males. The organization’s programs are implemented in select public schools based on their percentage of students who receive reduced and free-lunch, the students’ in-school behavioral data, and the students’ standardized test scores. A key goal of Growing Kings is t
o foster strong relationships with targeted ‘at-promise’ youth in order to provide positive direction that leads towards progressive thinking in all facets of life. Growing Kings differentiates itself from seemingly similar organizations through the utilization of non-traditional methods used to reach the young men. All of our facilitators are between the ages of 18-39, which allow the students the opportunity to more easily relate and accept the instruction and enrichment delivered by the facilitators. We equip our program facilitators with the proper training that provides them with an unmatched ability to communicate effectively and sincerely with the young men, while avoiding the pitfalls of condescension, which proves an ever-present barrier in meaningful dialogue with urban males. Furthermore, because the program facilitators have similar backgrounds as the targeted youths, they are equipped with a keen sense of empathetic understanding of their thought patterns and behavioral characteristics. This organization, founded to shed light on what seems to be a young man’s dark path, will aid in the transformation of our troubled youth into revolutionary leaders. These young men, now Kings, will serve as examples for both our local communities as well as our nation. They will personify progressive young leaders, challenging themselves and their peers to be the catalyst for the change the world needs to see. This organization will provide tools in all areas of life that will highlight and instruct our young boys in the proper direction to becoming successful men who will lead our communities out of poverty and bleakness into prosperity and hope.
