Today is the day! I'm so excited! I'm took a leap of FAITH & JUMPED! As Exec. Director of our NPO, Mt. Zion Community Development Corp. I decided to host a Women's Empowerment Brunch with guest speaker Honorable Ruby Y Davis. Not just for single moms through Purpose-Driven Single Moms: The Butterfly Effect , but for ALL WOMEN!

I'm elated & blessed to be amongst so many amazing women as we partake in this Empowerment Brunch at Season's 52. God continue to lead me as I walk & operate in my purpose.

My eyes needed watering... Very relatable 🥺

I had a MOMMY MELTDOWN yesterday! 😭

I rushed to get my daughter out the door. We had a power outage last night (from storms that were still occurring). We woke up late. I say let's grab Wendy's on the way to school.

Pulling into the Wendy's drive-thru, the voice on the speaker chirped, "Welcome to Wendy's! What can I get you today?"

I realize I left my PURSE AT HOME! "OH CRAP" I blurt out.

"What's the cheapest breakfast item you have?" I asked.

The lady on the other side of the speaker said "sausage biscuit is $1.75 or a regular biscuit is $1.50."

"I think I left my purse at home, one second let me see if I have enough..."

The voice, thankfully, didn't get angry. Instead, there was a kind understanding. They waited patiently for me to decided (AKA find enough change)

Scrambling for some spare change in the car console, I found just enough for one sausage biscuit. "OK, I will take the sausage biscuit".

Pulling up to the window, I handed over a pile of change, feeling every bit the flustered mom.

The girl at the window, with a kind smile, noticed my stress. "Is everything okay?" she asked gently. She was only about 18 or 19 herself.

I explained the power outage, the forgotten purse, and then... disaster struck again! My daughter piped up from the back, "Mom, you forgot my snack for school!"

Ugh, this morning just couldn't get any worse!

The girl at the window, however, did something incredible.

She disappeared for a moment, then returned with a sight that brought tears to my eyes.

There was a little bag with apple slices, an orange juice, and an extra biscuit!

"These apples and juice are for your daughter," she said "and the biscuit is for you, mama! You can't forget about yourself. Once you get some food in your belly, you'll start thinking straight."

I was speechless.

This complete strange turned a chaotic morning into something great.

I thanked her profusely, but she just laughed and said, "Don't worry about it, pay it forward when you can!"

After dropping off my daughter, completely touched by the experience, I went back to Wendy's with $20 to show my gratitude. The girl refused the money!

"I just love doing nice things for people who seem like they need it," she said. "It changes your whole day, doesn't it?"

She was absolutely right.

We need more people like her in this world!

That Wendy's employee – she's going places.

And she definitely showed me the true meaning of kindness.

Now I’m wondering how I can repay her 🤔
