"Our son Kyle passed away 10 years ago. He had signed up at the DMV to be an organ donor. He was 20 years old. We're so proud of Kyle for doing that, even though some family members were not happy with our decision. But it does help the forever grieving to know that others lived, breathed and thrived because of Kyle."

"Gary F. Jr always brought life and warmth into every room he entered. It is only fitting that, in his passing, Gary chose to share that life with others through organ donation. He turned our deepest tragedy into a miracle for someone else. Knowing Gary’s heartbeat continues and that others are breathing easier because of him brings a quiet peace to our grief. He will forever be missed and forever honored as a lifesaver, a protector, a giver and an absolute hero."

"My kidney transplant journey started in 1983 when I was hospitalized at Methodist Hospital in Omaha right after graduation. I was diagnosed with membranous glomerulonephritis and was pretty sick most of the summer losing almost 75 lbs.
I had a scholarship to play football that fall at the University of Nebraska-Omaha but my playing days were over. Fast forward to 1988 when my kidney function decreased to where I would have to start dialysis or receive a transplant.

My sister stepped forward and donated one of her kidneys and gave me the gift of life. She recovered after the surgery but I went through two rejection episodes spending a couple of months in and out of the hospital. Once my anti-rejection medications were adjusted, I was finally able to leave the hospital and not look back.
I've been blessed with 38 years of normal kidney function and able to graduate from college, get married and raise a family of three children. Our first grandchild should be born in the next week.

I've been able to volunteer as a coach for many sports, serve as a Y-Pal with the YMCA, volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America, and mentor for kidney transplant candidates and recipients.

All of this happened because my sister gave me a second chance at a better quality of life. I have been blessed but there are so many others out there waiting for their opportunity to enjoy a better quality of life, please consider donation and providing the gift of life."

"My daughter, Mary, was a mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Mary had a zest for life, a laugh that could lift your spirits, and a smile that could light up a room. She was loyal, loving and deeply cared for by everyone blessed enough to know her. Family was everything to Mary, and her heart will forever live on in her two boys, Travis and River. They were only 6 and 1 year old when they lost the most important person in their lives.

Mary tragically passed away from a choking accident at just 31 years old. Through organ donation, she was able to donate her liver, both kidneys and pancreas, helping three separate families. Even more people were helped through tissue donation, including a woman who had lived with pain for 30 years due to spinal degenerative disc disease until receiving a spinal graft with Mary’s tissue. She later wrote that it 'literally changed her life.'

Mary loved weekend trips with family, sporting events, concerts, wine nights, watching her oldest son play sports, and she even coached his soccer team. Her family and lifelong friends will always carry a piece of her with them.

Our family participates in the Donate Life Run Walk every year and plans to continue for years to come. In addition to raising awareness about organ donation, we want Travis and River to grow up knowing their mother was a hero."

"I hope to hear from more of the recipients of my son’s organs. He passed away on March 22, 2020. I heard from the little girl who received his heart. It helps to hear from those who survived, so please continue to keep in contact with donor families. He lives on through them."

"Today I celebrate life! Forty years ago, I was given a second chance through a lifesaving liver transplant. Because of one selfless decision, I have been able to live four more decades filled with love, family, memories, laughter, challenges and countless blessings.

My donor's name was Kevin. He was only 18 years old when he passed away. In the midst of unimaginable grief, his family chose to give the gift of life, and I became one of the people forever changed by that generosity.

There are no words big enough to express my gratitude. I carry Kevin's gift with me every single day. I think of the life he never got to fully live, and I honor him by cherishing the life I was able to continue because of him.

Today is not only a celebration of survival, but a remembrance of a young man whose legacy lives on through others.

Thank you, Kevin, for 40 beautiful years. You will never be forgotten. God bless you!"

"God bless organ donors. My husband received a heart transplant in 1996 and lived for 17 years afterward. His donor was a wonderful young man named Chris. We were fortunate to meet his family about two years after the transplant.

Pictured are members of our family alongside Chris’ donor family, including his mother, Bonnie; his brother, Brian; Brian’s wife, Ellen; our daughter, Kristi; and Pat, the heart recipient.

The blessing they gave us is something we could never thank them enough for, and our hearts hurt deeply for his parents and brother. It was a bittersweet time for us, but we are still in touch, mostly through his mom, my daughter and me. She has always been so gracious to us, and I have cried many tears for her.

Please know your son, and your family, gave the greatest gift someone could ever receive. I’m adding you to my prayers, as I know your grief is fresh and so very hard. May the Lord bless you always, and I hope our Chris and my husband welcomed your son into heaven." 🙏💙💙💙🪽🕊️🪽⭐️💫

"My son Auston fell to his death off a cliff in Bankhead forest. He was an organ donor. He was bright, talented, a lyricist and had a heart of gold. He was only 24.

Legacy of Hope handled all of the details with compassion. I know this is what he wanted. I’m an organ donor too. His life giving gift has saved lives for many people. Letters from grateful families mean the world to me. Do it! Auston was a wonderful young man. All you have to do is add ‘organ donor’ to your drivers permit or license. Be inspired. Save lives after your death."
