Is ambition a virtue?
Tuesday night at the Vulcan, Steven Mezrano gave us a clear answer:
Yes — if it’s properly directed.
The real question isn’t whether you’re ambitious…
It’s who you’re doing it for.
Are you seeking to glorify God — or yourself?
Steven shared a hard-earned realization:
You can win the world… and still lose —
if it costs you your marriage or your family.
The antidote?
• Put the phone away and be fully present with your family
• Stay committed to the nightly family rosary - even when you don’t feel like it
• Be willing to sacrifice even good things (yes, even Alabama football) for what matters most
Because misdirected ambition can leave you feeling that no win, no matter how many zeros are behind it, is enough.
And before you know it, you’re a slave to success.
But rightly ordered ambition?
It leads to freedom.
As powerful as the talk was, the Q&A might have been even better —
honest questions, candid answers, and a room that didn’t want it to end.
And afterward — conversation, connection, and community…
under the patio lights overlooking the Magic City.
—
And we’re just getting started.
At the end of the night, we teased our next event — an executive panel discussion:
“Devil in the Workplace: The Virtue of Prudence When the Office Gets Heated.”
Judging by the reaction in the room… this is one you won’t want to miss.
Stay tuned.
