YWCA’s My Sister’s Closet (MSC) is a resale boutique with a high-end feel providing no cost or low-cost finds nestled in the heart of downtown Birmingham. The boutique provides new and gently used

clothing, shoes, and accessories at no cost to women escaping domestic violence, in shelter or in extreme life transition in an atmosphere that is welcoming, supportive, filled with dignity and designed to make them feel special. It’s not surprising to peruse the racks of My Sister’s Closet and find designer items, direct from the store merchandise, wardrobe necessities and unique finds for as little as $5. Proceeds from MSC benefit the programs and services of YWCA Central Alabama.

Our Story

"Birmingham's Best Kept Secret" My Sister’s Closet is a low cost women’s clothing boutique that is filled with donated items. There are suits, dresses and casual wear along with shoes, purses and jewelry. My Sister’s Closet has everything a woman might need, but might not be able to afford. Most of the customers are referred by various agencies, those customers could be getting their lives back on track and entering the workforce or interviewing for a job, homeless, or perhaps a survivor of domestic violence, or maybe someone who has lost everything in a house fire. These women are able to shop at My Sister’s Closet with confidence and dignity at no cost through our referral program. There are also women just looking for a bargain and we are the “go to” place as we are open to the public so that all women can reap the benefit of low cost quality clothing.

We accept gently used or new in-season clothing, purses, jewelry and accessories at the front desk of the YWCA Central Alabama located at 309 23rd Street N, Birmingham, AL 35203, Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 pm.

We are able to provide this service 100% from donations, so we could not do what we do without you.
