"I think that TFA has the commitment and the heart to move the work here at Birmingham."
-Dr. Mark Sullivan
Superintendent, Birmingham City Schools

Our partner districts know what great teaching requires, and TFA Alabama is proud to bring that level of preparation, rigor, and heart to every school where we place corps members. We invest deeply in our people because we know it’s an investment in our kids — and our communities deserve that commitment.

It’s not just about a school year. It’s about building a future where one day, all children have access to an excellent education.

Ready to build that future with us? Apply to the TFA corps.

"Somewhere in the country has to be the best place to raise a child. Why couldn't that be us?"
- Ruth Ann Moss
TFA Mississippi '12
Founder & Executive Director, Small Magic

Ruth Ann's words capture exactly why we do this work - because every child deserves adults who believe in them, challenge them, and open doors to opportunity.

That belief is the heart of our vision that one day, all children will have access to an excellent education. From classrooms to careers across Alabama, TFA Alumni continue creating ripples of impact that help students see their own possibility more clearly.

"O’Brien describes herself as an optimist, a trait she inherited from her mother. When the work becomes difficult, she leans on the friends and colleagues around her who can remind her what is possible.

Her career has taken her through classrooms, policy meetings and the State House, but the lesson she has carried from each chapter is much the same: meaningful change begins when someone decides to show up."

It's always exciting to see the moves our Teach For America alumni continue to make across the state. Congrats to Corinn O'Brien on being named a 2026 Woman of Impact! From teaching to advocacy and beyond, her belief in what Alabama is capable of encourages us to keep believing in a future where all children have access to opportunity.

Check out the full story here and drop a 👏 in the comments to help us celebrate Corinn!

The Ignite Fellowship starts today, and the impact speaks for itself.

Nationally, students in Ignite grew faster than expected last year:
• 3X growth for 6th grade math students
• 1.7X growth in reading for 3rd–4th graders
• 96% said tutors taught in the way they learn best
• 100% said tutors made sure they understood the materials

In Alabama, 186 students received 1,480 extra minutes of learning last year across 4 partner schools, all thanks to 81 incredible fellows.

Here’s to a new year of belonging, confidence, and academic growth. Ignite is officially underway!
