Next Tuesday, October 13, the farm stand at the Center for Food Education will be closed. Woodlawn High School’s farm stand will operate as normal, on Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm.
Regular hours will resume on October 20. We look forward to serving you all then!

What a night at HAMILTON! Our Youth Pathways & Experiences interns had an incredible time experiencing Hamilton at the BJCC! Opportunities like this give our young people a chance to experience the arts, see history and storytelling come alive on stage, and enjoy something new together outside of the workplace.

A huge THANK YOU to Staging the Future and the American Theatre Guild Birmingham for hosting our interns and making this experience possible. From the music and performances to simply being together for a night at the theatre, this was an experience they won't soon forget!

At JVTF, we believe exposure matters. Every new experience helps expand what young people can imagine, explore, and see as possible for themselves.

That’s a wrap on Fall Farm Club! We couldn’t be prouder of our students, who celebrated the end of club by guiding family and friends through the farm and sharing everything they learned. They even got to enjoy veggie kabobs and berry lemonade prepared by the students!

📣Calling All Community Gardeners! 📣 Applications are NOW OPEN for the 2027 Good Community Food Fellowship!

JVTF’s Good Community Food Fellowship is an initiative designed to strengthen the local food system by providing an exceptional training opportunity for urban growers. This FREE program will establish a cohort of passionate advocates dedicated to the cultivation of healthy communities. Over the course of 11 months, Fellows will attend a series of workshops led by local farmers, chefs, and JVTF staff where they will gain practical skills & knowledge in agriculture, culinary arts, food justice, & community gardening. Fellows will also deepen their practice by applying what they learn in the management of individual garden plots at the Center for Food Education.

We are so grateful to our culinary partners like Food, Pleasure & Health for their time and expertise. Culinary Dietician, Dixya Bhattarai, taught us the importance of fermented foods and then lead us through the process of making a traditional Korean ferment, kimchi.
