If you enjoyed yourself at Gather last weekend, make sure to thank these folks! Today we give a huge shout out to our Community Advisory Board! This group went through our Good Community Food Fellowship, graudated, and then decided to serve on the board. They helped plan and organize this year's Gather event but they also advise us on community programming, look over fellowship applications, volunteer during workshops, and much more. They embody what it means to be in community and we are so grateful be in it with them đź’ž

We're grateful to recognize Baptist Health for their incredible partnership and support over the past year. From serving alongside us as volunteers to investing in our mission as a valued funder, they consistently support JVTF. This is the first week of Camp Grow, and they thoughtfully created goodie bags for our campers! Thank you, Baptist Health, for being an important part of our community and for helping us expand hands-on food education for Birmingham youth.

What’s been happening at WHS 🌱

May was filled with lots of excitement and bittersweet moments. Four of our interns graduated high school and wrapped up their time with us at the WHS Farm. Watching them grow over this past year has been one of the greatest gifts.

Market season also kicked off with a bang. We harvested nearly 500 lbs of squash throughout May, and our cucumbers decided to join the show too — bringing in 125 lbs on Tuesday alone.

Baby hatchlings are all over the farm, the sunshine is sticking around, and after such a rainy May, the fields are booming with wormlets. One of the most exciting parts has been watching the spring crops and the summer vegetables collide.

Bonus points if you look through all the photos and spot the one thing that really ties this season together.

Feeling grateful for the abundance, the growth, and everyone that makes this happen.

We are proud to celebrate Madison for being selected to participate in the International Dual Enrollment Academy (IDEA), a unique partnership between Miles College, Birmingham Sister Cities and Birmingham City Schools.

Through IDEA, Madison will engage in college-level coursework focused on global studies, cultural understanding, and international leadership while developing the skills needed to serve as a global ambassador. This incredible opportunity will expand her worldview, strengthen her academic experience, and connect her with peers and communities beyond Birmingham.

We are excited to see all that Madison will accomplish as she represents her school, community, and the next generation of leaders on a global stage.

Join us in congratulating Madison on this outstanding achievement!
