This week has been something, huh?! Have y’all felt the daily 105 (and higher) degree dew points? We sure have - sweating through our clothes, drinking endless cups of water, watching (crying) as our plants wilt and drop flowers.
Everyday I check our volunteer schedule and think, I bet this heat will keep folks away, they won’t show up today. And everyday I’ve been surprised at the prompt arrival of new and old volunteers eager to work alongside us in heat and humid, digging sweet potatoes, crimping sunn h**p, and forking our soil with a joy and gusto I wish I could match.
To all the folks who’ve joined us on the farm the last two weeks, we couldn’t be more grateful for your presence and your company as we slog through (what we hope) are the last few days (or weeks) of this oppressive and seemingly relentless heat. Your joyful spirits have buoyed us along and we and the farm are better for it.
