We're a volunteer-led nonprofit supporting Birmingham's historic Forest Park neighborhood.

Please join us this Tuesday to view the conceptual master plan for Triangle Park. Developed by Macknally Land Design, this plan incorporates two years of resident feedback regarding park safety, accessibility, and amenities.

A few things to keep in mind:

- These plans are conceptual—meant to spark ideas and help define a shared vision for improvements.
- This is the same community-led approach that built the playground and picnic areas we enjoy today.
- This stage is about building consensus and excitement. There are no imminent renovation dates.
- We need feedback from all interested neighbors to ensure these much-needed updates reflect our community.

Many of you are likely already familiar with the conceptual master plan for Triangle Park that our group presented in November, but some of you may just be learning about it. We are aware of a flyer circulating about the plan, and we are glad it has sparked more engagement regarding the park’s future.

With more people joining the discussion, we want to share a few points:

- We are following an established precedent of neighbor-led development in Triangle Park: residents create the plan, the city signs off on it, and we work together to secure the funding.
- There are no imminent plans to break ground. This conceptual plan is just a starting point to inspire discussion, and certainly not a final blueprint.
- The ideas in the plan are the result of two years of conversations with neighbors about maintenance, aging equipment, and safety.
- Engagement is critical. We are committed to a community-led plan and will continue to invite your feedback at every stage.
- We are unaware of who distributed the recent flyers, but we hope they’ll respond to the email we sent last weekend inviting a transparent and productive conversation.

We started this effort to address long-standing maintenance and equipment issues in a way that is driven by the community—our neighbors. The conceptual plan we’ve shared is a conversation-starter, and we want everyone with interest to be part of that dialogue.

Friendsgiving yesterday was amazing! It reminded us how special Triangle Park and this community really are. Having a beautiful space to come together means so much, and we were thrilled with the turnout. At this afternoon’s Friendsgiving, we are excited to unveil a new vision for Triangle Park. As we plan for the future of this cherished space, we also take a moment to honor and thank the neighbors and supporters who, 25 years ago, came together to fund and create the park we’ve enjoyed ever since. Their spirit of generosity guides our path forward.

It has been over 20 years since Triangle Park last received major improvements. The time has come to reimagine and revitalize this beloved neighborhood space.

Common Ground Forest Park engaged Macknally Land Design to create a conceptual master plan for the future of Triangle Park that preserves its unique character while addressing community priorities. The plan will be available for in-person review and comment at the upcoming Friendsgiving event and digitally online November 17-30. Visit our website for more details.
