On March 14, 2026, Trinity E.R. Court #11, Heroines of Jericho, had the distinguished honor of hosting an initiation ceremony for the establishment of Genesis Court in Pell City, Alabama. This historic occasion marked the formal organization of the Court, with Heroine Bridgette Smith to be installed as Most Ancient Matron and Companion Tyrone Smith to be installed as Most Worthy Joshua.

Trinity E.R. Court #11 expresses sincere gratitude to Grand Most Ancient Matron Dr. Barbara Thompson, Grand Most Worthy Joshua Ron Boone, and officers of Emanuel Grand Court for your help and entrusting our Court with the responsibility of conducting this important and meaningful ceremony. The confidence placed in Trinity E.R. Court #11 was deeply appreciated and regarded as both an honor and a privilege.

The success of the ceremony was made possible through the collective effort and dedication of the Court’s leadership and supporting members. Special recognition is extended to Most Ancient Matron Carla J. Whitlock, Most Worthy Joshua Gerren K. Whitlock, Sr., Senior Matron Candice Johnson, Senior Attendant Cassandra Davis, Junior Attendant Tracy McCall, Heroine Kim Webb, and Court Directors Companion Donell Lewis, and Companion Jeff Webb. Special thanks to Grand District Deputy Connie McClure for your support.

Several members of this distinguished team traveled to Pell City and willingly made personal sacrifices, setting aside other obligations in order to answer the call of duty. Their commitment to excellence ensured that the ceremony was conducted with dignity, precision, and reverence consistent with the traditions of the Heroines of Jericho.

The establishment of Genesis Court represents continued growth and strength within the Order, and Trinity E.R. Court #11 was proud to play a role in this important milestone. We extend our best wishes for the continued success and prosperity of Genesis Court as it begins its journey of service, fellowship, and dedication within the Jurisdiction.

Do you know the history of Juneteenth?

Juneteenth marks the day, June 19, 1865, when the last group of enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were told they were free.

Two and a half years AFTER the Emancipation Proclamation. Two and a half years that they remained in bo***ge, working, suffering, surviving because the people who held them chose not to tell them they were free!

So while Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, it’s also a stark reminder of just how tightly this country clung to slavery. Freedom wasn’t given, it was withheld.

That’s what makes Juneteenth powerful. It’s a story of delayed justice, but also of unshakable resilience. It speaks to the strength of our ancestors and the depth of cruelty they endured. It reveals both the resistance to our liberation and the fire that refused to be extinguished.

Did You Know: The first Memorial Day was organized by freed Black Americans in 1865 in Charleston, SC.

Over 10,000 newly freed men, women, and children gathered to honor Union soliders who fought and died for their freedom. They cleaned up burial grounds, held a parade, sang hymns, and gave thanks in what became the first large scale Memorial Day observance.

This powerful piece of Black History reminds us that freedom has always had defenders and the roots of Memorial Day are deeply tied to Black American history.
