United Ability had the privilege of welcoming Kevin Spencer back to campus recently. Both our adult and children’s programs had the opportunity to watch, participate, and experience a little magic together!🪄

But the magic of United Ability doesn’t stop when you leave campus! It lives in the connections we make throughout our community. Every day, we’re reminded that a little magic can go a long way in creating a more inclusive world for everyone.

Thank you, Kevin, for sharing your magic with us! ✨

Football season is in full swing, and here in Alabama, Saturdays just mean a little more. So it feels like the perfect time to celebrate a partnership we’re incredibly grateful for! 🏈

For 10 years, Nick's Kids Foundation has supported United Ability and our Early Learning Program, helping children of all abilities learn, grow and thrive together. Their investment helps make possible not only high-quality early education, but also the therapies, medical support and individualized care children need to reach their fullest potential.

We’re grateful to Nick and Terry Saban and the entire Nick’s Kids family for believing in children, families, teachers and students and for a decade of creating possibility alongside us. ❤️

Today is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day 💚

Cerebral Palsy is deeply rooted in United Ability’s history. Our organization was founded by parents seeking support and opportunity for their children with cerebral palsy, which laid the foundation for the services and community we continue to build today.

While our roots began there, our commitment has always been broader. Today, United Ability is proud to walk alongside people with cerebral palsy and individuals with many different types of disabilities, supporting them and their families at every stage of life.

Today and every day, we celebrate the strength, achievements, and voices of people with disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to building a community where everyone belongs.

Yesterday, with the help of some gorgeous fall weather, Protective Life hosted its annual Protective IT Golf Tournament. ⛳️🍂

With the help of some incredible sponsors, players, and volunteers who made yesterday such a huge success we raised an incredible $62,000 for United Ability and Libby’s Friends. Your support makes a meaningful difference in our community! ❤️

Earlier this month we had the privilege of joining AT Alabama Conference for their Pre-Conference Workshops! It was an incredible opportunity to connect with our community and take part in hands-on experiences designed to promote accessibility, and inclusion!

Participants had the chance to build switch-adapted toys alongside Emmett's Workshop, learn how to adapt a kitchen for individuals with low vision with The Blind Kitchen, explore a trail at Red Mountain Park with Huckleberry Hiking gear, and even hit the park at the Birmingham Skatepark with Ability Skateboarding & Action Sports.

We are so proud to be part of a conference that creates meaningful, interactive opportunities for our community members to learn, connect, and try new things. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make these workshops such a memorable experience, and we’re already looking forward to what next year’s conference will bring! 💙

A little sunshine, a little friendly competition, and A LOT of fun! 💚🎉

Regions Bank brought the energy to United Ability for Evergreen Week, with two teams spending time with the adults from Dr. E’s Place.
🌳 One team headed to Oak Mountain State Park for basketball, checkers, UNO, a nature scavenger hunt, nature art, and a picnic lunch.
🎶 Back on campus, another team got competitive over a game of bingo before turning up the music for a dance party.

We’re so grateful to our friends at Regions for continually showing up for United Ability and supporting our programs in so many ways. Thanks for spending Evergreen Week with us and making time for meaningful moments, plenty of laughs, and lots of big smiles! 💙

This week, the participants at Dr. E’s Place took time to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our amazing Direct Service Providers (DSPs)!

Our DSPs play such an important role in supporting participants as they pursue goals, build connections, and thrive in their communities in ways that matter to them! Their dedication helps ensure that everything runs smoothly and, most importantly, that our participants have the support they need to succeed.

To our DSP’s: THANK YOU for creating opportunities, building trust, fostering independence, and supporting people to pursue the lives they choose.

Thank you for making our mission possible. 💙

Tell us in the comments, how have our Dr. E’s Place DSPs made a difference for you or your family?
