Akevia Wilson was a Dove Award winner as a graduate of the Christian Women's Job Corp in her city. During a difficult time, Akevia said, “God had an answer before I asked the question.” She cried as she told how her son would not have to experience food insecurities and homelessness. She exclaimed, “Generational poverty ended with me!” She closed her testimony with these words, “I am a witness to the transforming power of your work.” The Marti Solomon Endowment makes it possible for AKevia's testimony to be repeated again and again as men and women gain hope through their local CWJC/CMJC.

Through the support of the Marti Solomon Endowment and the Vision Fund, WorldCrafts supports artisans around the world by providing opportunities to earn an income with dignity. Each WorldCrafts artisan represents a life changed by the opportunity to earn an income with dignity and to hear the offer of eternal hope. One artisan currently employed at our very first artisan group, Thai Country Trim, makes purses and hand towels to earn an income while she also takes intensive courses that will help her reach her community with hope.

Marti retired from WMU but her love for WMU and the mission of WMU continued. After she retired, we had several opportunities to work together to meet the needs of people the Lord placed in our lives. Our shared ministry deepened our friendship. Her concern for the needs of others is extended beyond her lifetime through the Marti Solomon Endowment. https://bit.ly/Marti-Solomon I'd love for you to share your photos and stories as well.

Through the support of the Marti Solomon Endowment and the Vision Fund, thousands of men and women are impacted through the ministries of CWJC/CMJC in the United States and throughout the world.

The Christian Job Corps ministry seeks to equip men and women for life and employment in a Christian context, providing hope that is found through Jesus Christ. The impact is lifechanging. "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." (Hebrews 6:10)

Recently, one CWJC graduate went on to receive her Master’s in Social Work and has just started a new job working with human trafficking survivors. Through CWJC, she saw the hope she has in Christ and His plan for her life and desires to share this hope with others.

We were sharing a room at Ridgecrest one year when my alarm clock went off at 5 in the morning. I had an early meeting. Marti was a late sleeper. When I reached out to turn it off, I hit it and it rolled under the bed. It took me a couple of minutes to finally reach it and turn it off. We laughed later. Every year we went to Red Lobster for Lobsterfest. I have many good memories of our friendship that was enriched by our shared love of missions. You can join me in extending Marti's missions love by giving to the Marti Solomon Endowment. Maybe you have a story or photo to share. https://bit.ly/Marti-Solomon

Do you have a story about Marti Solomon? I first met Marti when I came for an interview at National WMU in 1987. She was one of a few whom I met, people I would soon be serving alongside. Through the years we served together, were in many meetings together, traveled for work together, and to flea markets as well. Since her death ten years ago, many people have told me of their experience with Marti, and how she influenced them in their missional commitment. Over the next 5 days I am raising awareness of the Marti Solomon Endowment through which Marti's love for God's mission continues to impact lives. The Marti Solomon Endowment contributes to the ministries of National WMU, and as it grows, the contributions grow as well. "...when your children ask in time to come, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?' Then you shall answer them... (Joshua 4:6-7)

Marti Solomon died April 18, 2012, but her legacy of missions lives on in the many lives she touched, as well as the Marti Solomon Endowment. "That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to their children." (Psalm 78:6) The endowment, set up in her memory by her family, contributes to the ministries of National WMU. Marti was a native of Mississippi, a 1974 Graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, served as a minister of youth in Mississippi and Texas, worked as National WMU Acteens consultant and Customer Relations Specialist, and loved WMU and missions.
