The Birmingham Business Alliance is proud to celebrate the grand opening of Carver Jones Market! This new grocery store located in Titusville's Heritage Towne Centre has brought an end to a three-year food desert in the neighborhood.

In addition to fresh, healthy food access, the store will include a coffee shop and pharmacy. The store is expected to create thirty jobs, serve as a workforce development center and offer conference room space.

This milestone was made possible through strong local partnerships, including the City of Birmingham, Birmingham City Council and BHM Bank. The BBA congratulates everyone who helped bring this store to life.

Economic development decisions are changing. Is your community ready?

On Oct. 15, the Central Alabama Economic Development Summit will put the issues that determine whether communities win investment on the table: from site readiness, infrastructure and incentives to workforce, AI, quality of place and the way regions tell their story.

One day. Three general sessions. Nine breakouts. Practical insight from the people making, influencing and evaluating economic development decisions.

If you have a role in shaping Central Alabama’s growth, this is a room you’ll want to be in.

We’re getting ready for one of our favorite Magic City Classic week traditions! 🏫

The Birmingham Business Alliance is proud to host the 2026 Magic City HBCU Breakfast on Oct. 29, bringing together our region’s HBCU and business leaders for meaningful conversations around talent, opportunity, partnership and the future of our region.

As we prepare for this year’s event, our team recently connected with UNCF Birmingham leadership including Casi Ferguson, Area Development Director, Birmingham, UNCF, and participating HBCU presidents:

• Dr. Cynthia T. Anthony, President of Lawson State Community College
• Dr. Yolanda W. Page, President of Stillman College
• Dr. Willie L. Todd Jr., President of Talladega College (not pictured)

Benefiting UNCF, the breakfast celebrates the important role HBCUs play in developing the talent and leaders who move our region forward. Sponsorship opportunities are now available for organizations that want to be part of this important conversation. To learn more, contact Martina Winston at [email protected] - or go ahead and buy your table or ticket now at https://events.birminghambusinessalliance.com/magic-city-hbcu-breakfast-2026.

We look forward to celebrating our HBCU community during Magic City Classic week!

Today’s BBA Governmental Affairs Luncheon brought together elected officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders for an important conversation about policies shaping economic growth across Alabama.

We were proud to welcome Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels, REV Birmingham President & CEO David Fleming, and Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP Partner Matthew Hinshaw for a timely discussion on the Growing Alabama Tax Credit, Alabama Jobs Act incentives, and Alabama Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit—all programs facing sunset and requiring legislative reauthorization.

Quarterly gatherings like this create valuable opportunities for open dialogue between the business community and local leaders as we work together to advance policies that strengthen Birmingham and Alabama’s economy.

Thank you to our speakers and everyone who joined us today!

What really makes a region globally competitive?

At the Central Alabama Economic Development Summit happening Oct. 15, we’re going straight to the people who evaluate communities and help determine where major investments land.

Join Ron Starner, Executive Vice President of Site Selection Magazine, and Jay Garner, Founder and President of Garner Economics, LLC, for a candid conversation moderated by Greg Canfield, Managing Director of Economic Development at Burr & Forman.

They'll take attendees inside the site selection process - covering what companies prioritize when evaluating a region, how site selectors assess communities and sites, what can make or break a deal, competitive analysis, and how Central Alabama and the South can compete better.

If we want to win more investment, we need to understand how the decisions are made.
