Today, our Rotary Club had the privilege of recognizing our 2026 Scholarship recipients from Birch Run High School.

We were honored to have these outstanding graduates join us at this morning’s meeting and share their plans for the future. From higher education to career goals and beyond, it was inspiring to hear about the paths they are preparing to pursue.

These students have demonstrated hard work, dedication, and a commitment to their goals, and we are proud to support them as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Congratulations to each of our scholarship recipients; Sydney Fox, Aubrey Deibert, Allison Flint, Mark Girard, William Rousseau and the two recipeints who were not able to make it to our meeting Stella Schultz and Sophia Clark. We wish you success, happiness, and endless opportunities in the years ahead. Thank you for spending part of your morning with us and allowing us to celebrate your accomplishments. The Rotary Club of Birch Run was proud to present our local fire departments with $3,000.00 checks at our Tuesday, May 12 meeting to help purchase new Attack Pro Thermal Imaging Cameras. These cameras will provide firefighters with critical visibility in smoke-filled buildings, helping them respond more safely and effectively in emergency situations.

On May 19th we were able to present Megan Smits from ConnEQtions Equine Therapy Program a $3,000.00 check which will be put to use in their future plans to work with Prism Project and United States Veterans.

This incredible community investment was made possible through the support of everyone who participated in our annual “Run for the Roses” event at The Bus Stop Bar & Grille. To all of the horse owners near and far who joined in the fun and supported this event — THANK YOU! We truly appreciate your continued support and cannot wait to see you again next year.

Your support will positively impact our community for years to come — and may even help save lives. The motto of Rotary is “Service Above Self,” and we are grateful to partner with businesses and community members who truly live out that mission through their generosity and commitment to giving back.

Last week was a busy (and beautiful!) one for the Birch Run Rotary Club and our Environmental Committee as we celebrated both Earth Day and Arbor Day! 🌎🌳

Our amazing Rotarians rolled up their sleeves and got to work:
• We weeded and cleaned up the Gateway Rock right off Exit 136
• Spruced up the Butterfly Garden at Birch Run Park
• Hosted a fun and educational day at Birch Run North Elementary! First & second graders enjoyed a tree identification tour right on school grounds, while third & fourth graders got hands-on with a microgreens project 🌱

There’s something pretty special about taking time to care for the places we call home. Keeping our community clean and our environment healthy isn’t just a one-day effort—it’s something we can all be part of year-round. And let’s be honest… trees don’t ask for much, but they give us so much in return—shade, beauty, cleaner air, and a stronger, healthier world for future generations.

A huge shoutout to Sarah Archer & Gene Hopp the committee leaders as well as all of our Interact Student volunteers and Rotarians who volunteered their time, energy, and passion to make these projects a success. 💚🌎
