The American Civic Association is proud to celebrate Goretti Mugambwa and Regina Pereira for their dedication to our community.

On August 31, Broome County Executive Jason T. Garnar presented citations recognizing Goretti’s 15 years of service to ACA and Regina’s 10 years of service.

As DOJ-accredited representatives and immigration caseworkers, Goretti and Regina support individuals and families as they navigate the immigration process and build their lives in our community. Their experience, compassion, and dedication have made a tremendous difference in the lives of those they serve.

We’re grateful for their commitment to ACA and to the people and families who make Broome County home. Congratulations, Goretti and Regina, on this well-deserved recognition!!

Thank you to Professor Rubayat Jesmin and her students at Binghamton University for joining us on Monday, September 28, for a special presentation with American Civic Association (ACA) Executive Director/CEO Hussein Adams and Deputy Director Laila Hernandez!

The presentation brought the topics explored in the students’ Human Rights course to life through real-world examples from the ACA’s work. Students learned about our mission and how immigration, citizenship, and human rights shape the services we provide.

From welcoming newcomers to supporting settlement, integration, and community engagement, the ACA is committed to upholding human rights and helping individuals and families build a strong foundation in their new communities.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect classroom learning with our work in the community!

Building a new life in the United States doesn’t have to mean figuring everything out on your own.

The American Civic Association’s Refugee Support Services Program (RSSP) provides support to eligible refugees, asylees, and humanitarian parolees as they work toward building stability and independence in the United States.

Our team can assist with applying for eligible benefits such as SNAP and Medicaid, preparing resumes and job applications, employment support, and connecting with resources in the community.

You may qualify if you are 16 or older, live in New York State, and have an eligible refugee, asylee, or humanitarian parole status.

If you think you or someone you know may qualify, contact us to learn more.
