Coming up on June 20th as part of Path Through History Weekend.

This presentation will be at 1:30pm

CASTLE ON THE Hill by Broome County Historian Roger Luther

A History and Virtual Tour of the Asylum at Binghamton
Built in 1858, its founder would pioneer medical addiction treatment in this country, it’s designer would become one of New York State’s leading 19th century architects, and for over a century it would provide security, health care and employment for thousands. Today this National Historic Landmark sits empty, abandoned and deteriorating.

This it the story of what began as the New York State Inebriate Asylum and later became Binghamton State Hospital. Presented by Broome County Historian Roger Luther, the presentation includes rare vintage photographs, original documents, personal accounts, recent developments, and a virtual walk-through of the building.
