There is still roughly one week left to sign up for Wood Badge at the regular cost! Folks, this isn't just a regular training. For many of us, we've become accustomed to seeing scouting from one angle whether it be as a leader, volunteer etc. Wood Badge offers a "new" look at scouting that can be highly beneficial beyond scouting!

Wood Badge 2026There are two parts to the course, attendance is required at both -- Sept. 25-27 and Oct 17-18, 2026 The Wood Badge course provide

Volunteering is an important aspect of scouting. Many of us don't have problems finding volunteer projects, but if your unit or a scout is looking for volunteer opportunities or hours, a good place to start is the Broome County United Way. Their Volunteer HQ lists all the volunteer projects needed to be done in Broome County!

When it comes to camp staff, I don't know if we always realize the full extent of their importance. Yes, they are there to teach merit badges and keep Scouts safe. Beyond that, though, they set positive examples for Scouts and, more importantly, serve as sources of inspiration. Many of us are where we are today because we had a mentor to guide us along the way. While we may be biased, we believe the staff at the Tuscarora Scout Reservation are the best mentors a Scout could ask for!

Thank you to our week 3 leaders! Camp wouldn’t be possible without your leadership and support to Scouting!

While we've moved on to week three of camp, we always like to see how campers enjoyed the previous week. Even with the smoke, it seems like everybody had a pretty good time!

Just a heads up that there will be a scouting station at the Johnson City Rotary Carousel Day on Saturday, July 25, from 11 AM–4 PM at CFJ Park. We will have both inflatables on hand in addition to our new fish pond for kids to try out. If anybody is willing to swing by and help out for a few hours, this would be greatly appreciated!
