NYS Council on Adolescent Pregnancy

NYS Council on Adolescent Pregnancy NYSCAP aims to reduce the incidence of adolescent pregnancy through public awareness, education, and the promotion of research.

NYSAP focuses to promote healthy adolescent development and well-being, reduce the incidence of adolescent pregnancy and increase the capacity of pregnant and/or parenting youth to become productive members of society. We do this through public awareness, education, promotion of research and supporting the efforts of individuals and organizations working on behalf of youth. NYSCAP was incorporated

in 1985 and has provided leadership in teen pregnancy prevention since its inception. NYSCAP's philosophical foundation is a belief that all youth are entitled to certain rights and a range of conditions and opportunities which will enable them to grow up in the healthiest possible way into thoughtful, caring, self-sufficient adults.

World Contraception Day was September 26th!👏🏽

💭Why is this holiday celebrated around the world? Because it’s an important day (and wonderful opportunity) to “bring focus to the rights of 𝙖𝙡𝙡 couples and individuals to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of their children.” -CDC

Wondering what contraceptive options are currently available? Check the link via https://linktr.ee/NYSCAP for more info!

Don’t forget to wear your purple on August 27th to celebrate day! 💜

Wear It Purple Day was created to advocate for and empower LGBTQIA+ young people by letting them know they are not alone. Through the simple act of wearing or sharing purple, you can:
🤝show you celebrate and promote the values or diversity and inclusion in all social settings,
‼️raise awareness of s*xuality & gender identity and challenge harmful social norms,
🥇and mark yourself as a champion role model helping to empower young people with the confidence and creating the social safety & support for them to be exactly who they are.

While this movement started in Australia, let’s do our part to bring it worldwide and support the young people in our communities this week! 🏳️‍🌈
