Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of alternatives...

Remember, if you are in a tight spot and need some help with utility bills, HEAP -- Home Energy Assistance Program -- enrollment is currently open. It may take up to 30 business days to hear from them, so apply early.

It can help cover heating costs associated with electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, propane, kerosene, wood/wood pellets, and corn.

Find out more here: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/

If you're over 60 years old, you can apply via the Broome County Office for the Aging: https://www.gobroomecounty.com/dss/assistance

PSA: If you didn't already know, the 2022-2023 Regular HEAP Benefit is open. 🙋‍♂️

As it gets colder our heating systems have to work harder, burning more fuel and raising the heating bill. You shouldn't have to shiver in your home just to put food on the table.

If you need help paying the bills this winter, reach out to your local HEAP office. You can be eligible for benefits even if heat is included in your rent. Visit this link for details, and reach out if you have questions.

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) can help eligible New Yorkers heat and cool their homes.

This project is prioritized for LMI households. If your household earns below a certain amount, you're in. It's limited to 100 subscribers on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the link below, and if you're interested, reserve your place in line!!
