A message from Taylor Ruiz and the Hat Tricks Organization: On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Hat Tricks Captain and beloved member of the Danbury community, Jonny Ruiz, suffered a serious stroke. Jonny has given so much to this team and this city, both on and off the ice. As he begins a long road to recovery, we’re asking our hockey family to rally around Jonny and the Ruiz family. We have purchased 5,000 pom poms for giveaway at the Cup Finals in the Arena next weekend! Let’s create a pom pom shaking, flag waving frenzie for the Black Bears!

Our family is starting MAC 11 to help ease or erase the fiscal barrier for entry into the sport of hockey for local youth. We will donate money and raise more to help families struggling to pay fees for their kids to play youth hockey and to buy tickets to pro hockey games for kids in local group homes or from families in need that otherwise might not be exposed to the sport to spark an interest in the game and create their own hockey dreams.

The MAC 11 Foundation takes it's name from the hockey player who has suited up for more games in a Binghamton sweater than any other, a four year Captain, and the only player to ever have their jersey retired to the rafters of the Arena. The Dusters and Whalers' #11, Randy MacGregor.
