NOTE: UPDATED LIST OF SCHOOLS!
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: On Friday, April 17, fire companies will be visting high schools to talk to students about becoming volunteer firefighters. This offers a lot of opportutnities for students including cash stipends as much as $1500 for completing basic fire courses. (More info at )

There is also a $200 refundable tax credit available to volunteer firefighters each year.

There are also many scholarship opportunities for volunteer firefighters. It's also a way to help your community, gain valuable skills, and find out about a number of careers related to firefighting. If you are interested ask at your high school when fire companies will be there, most will be 1 pm on Friday. Or you can stop in at your local fire department on Saturday, April 18, noon to 3 pm.

As of today the following fire companies will be hosting open houses on Saturday, April 18, noon to 3 pm, to talk to residents about volunteering: Chenango Bridge Fire Co, Conklin Fire Co.. Endwell O. L. Davis Fie Co., Port Crane Fire Co and Whitney Point Fire Co. (note different hours). We will update the list as we hear from other fire departments. (See photos for complete list)

Our condolences on the passing of Vestal Fire Past Chief Doug Rose.

The Broome Co. Firefighters Assoc. will hold a presentation on Autism Awareness for first responders on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 pm at the Endwell Fire Station, 3508 Country Club Road, Endwell. Park & enter in the back of the fire station. Join us for refreshments at 7 pm. Any interested first responders are invited to attend.

If you have a fire hydrant near your house, please shovel it out. If there is a fire, valuable time is lost accessing the hydrant.

❄️ Major Winter Storm Safety Reminder ❄️

A buried fire hydrant can delay our firefighting efforts when seconds matter.

Please take a few minutes to shovel 3 feet around any hydrants near your home and clear a path to the street. This simple step helps us protect lives and property during emergencies.

During the storm:
• 🚫 Avoid unnecessary travel and stay off the roads unless absolutely needed
• 🪏 Shovel/snowblow early, often, and safely — take breaks and pace yourself
• 🔥 Clear furnace and exhaust vents to prevent dangerous backups
• 🤝 Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly or those who may need help

Your cooperation helps emergency crews respond faster and keeps everyone safer.

The Endwell/ O. L. Davis Fire Co. will hold a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, November 30, 7 am to noon, at the Endwell Fire Station, 3508 Country Club Rd., Endwell. Kids can see Santa from 9 am to 11 am. Stop down for a delicious breakfast!
