ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - That's all, folks! This week wraps up our summer session with smiles, memories, and a few tears as some of our students head off on their next adventures. Some of our kiddos have been with us for several years, so that often makes for complicated farewells even when we are excited for them. We are so grateful and honored to have been part of each and every one of our students' journeys. We are so excited for all they will do in life!

Thank you to all of our staff for working tirelessly to help our students shine and taking care of each other to do our best work!

Thank you to our students for reminding us how hard work, perseverance, and novel thinking pays off!

Thank you to our parents and families for being amazing team members who help make everything go better!

Thank you to our campus and community partners for helping make another school year and summer session one for the books!

We wish everyone a wonderful break! The Children's Unit for Treatment and Evaluation will be closed 8/17-9/9. Staff return for conference day trainings on 9/10 and all students planned to start school with us in September start on Monday 9/14/26.

While we won't be posting Facebook recaps during the break, we hope you will stay tuned to our page for SLC Saturday reminders (one coming up at the end of this month) and other events and highlights. Have a great weekend!

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - we have officially closed out July and are headed right into August! But before we talk transitions, do take a few moments to appreciate our photo recap of a few great memories from this week.

We are very excited for next week as we celebrate a year of accomplishments in our Up, Up, and Away Celebrations! Many of our students will be heading off to new adventures after the summer session closes - this is our chance to share how proud we are of each and every one of our students. Whether staying with us next year or heading off for other paths, this is our chance to hold this moment in time in our hearts and minds. Pictures should be amazing from this! ICD families can find the schedule in the first photo in this post for reference - any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.

And last but not least- don't forget that this weekend starts our SLC Saturday Series for the next few months. Come out to hang with us from 10a-12p on the SLC behind ICD. We are looking forward to sharing some sunshine and fun times for all who can attend.

Have a great Friday night and weekend ahead! Maybe better said, as one of our students informed us needed to be said in the post, "Make it fun!"

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap- We can barely fit in all the pictures of awesome from our family event this week! Thank you to all who came out for our Under the Sea splash bash and got a little (or a lot!) wet!

Next week we head into our last week of July and the second half of our summer session - only 3 weeks left?!? Where does the time go? Stay tuned for more details about our next SLC Saturday coming up on 8/1/26 - we hope to post information early next week so you can plan ahead.

Enjoy your weekend ahead and make it a great one!

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap - This week was all about adapting to unexpected circumstances, and as always our staff and students did not disappoint. While air quality was questionable due to the wildfires in Canada, our staff and students kept busy indoors. We were making music, dancing, doing sensory play, and working on our academics. When we cannot control the world around us, we can control how we respond and remember that good things come from the moments we share and not having ideal experiences or things always going according to plan. Life lessons come in many packages and opportunities - sometimes just not how we expect them. Great job being flexible, Team ICD!

Next week, ICD families are welcome to dive in with us as we go Under the Sea for our family services activity in July. We hope you will join us for an oceanic adventure. You don't need scuba gear, but maybe opt for some fast-drying fabrics in your clothing choices during your scheduled classroom activities (see schedule in first image in this post). Things might get a little wet - welcome to the splash zone. You were warned!

We hope all of our families, students, staff, and page followers stay safe this weekend as the continuing air quality shifts occur related to the tragedy in Canada. For information about air quality and safety recommendations, be sure to check out www.airnow.gov for your location or where you plan to be. Severe thunderstorms are also forecasted to head our way over the weekend. Bottom line - better have some indoor back-up plans!

As we look forward into the summer, we are also happy to announce our tentative dates for SLC Saturdays: 8/1/26, 8/29/26, 9/26/26, & 10/24/26. A lot can happen and change when planning this far in advance, so please be patient if things shift. We will release more specific announcements with dates, times, and themes to these weekend events when we are closer to the actual planned dates. For now, save the dates and stay tuned.

Have a super weekend!

ICD Highlights Weekly Recap -Welcome back! Check out our week of fun with splish-splash and sunshine smiles as we started our 6-week summer session and made sure to get some time outdoors. We love this time of year because we get to celebrate the seasonal gifts summer brings and get outside. We are also hopeful to share more pictures from our Children's Activity Garden once we get outside more (as temperatures permit - with sun sometimes comes too much heat)!

In other news, many of you may have noticed a change in front of our building this week, and if not we hope you stop by soon! We are extremely grateful for donor support that allowed us to revamp our exterior grounds and put in building-length gardens with flowering shrubs and other plants to add color and welcoming greenery for all. This project was completed during the June and early July break - amazing timeline and a great welcome back for students and staff! We look forward to adding many colorful elements reflecting our unique students and staff in the coming months and years to continue this ICD Beautification Project.

Coming up - stay tuned for more information on upcoming SLC Saturdays we are planning for the next several months as well as family service activities for ICD parents that are around the corner. Lots of fun to look forward to!

For now - enjoy the weekend ahead, and we will see you next week!
