The Global Health Impact Project The Global Health Impact Project is devoted to measuring pharmaceutical products’ impact on global health to advance access to essential medicines.

Today, millions of people around the world suffer because they are unable to afford life saving medications. The Global Health Impact Project is grounded in the belief that the global poor deserve to live healthy lives despite their socioeconomic status. In pursuit of this vision, our team of university researchers aims to construct a rating system that evaluates companies on the basis of their drugs’ impact on global health. To evaluate this impact, we are considering three things:

1. The need for several important drugs for diseases that primarily affect the global poor.
2. The drugs’ effectiveness.
3. The number of people who can access the drugs. Our goal is to disseminate objective information on essential medications, and ultimately close the gap between the rich and the poor in regards to access to life-saving medicine.

📣 GHI is recruiting for Fall 2026!

The Global Health Impact Project is accepting applications for our General Team. Students will have the opportunity to contribute to work across research, writing, project support, and outreach.

General Team members may assist with academic research, literature reviews, reference checking, paper preparation, data organization, grant-related support, project documentation, social media marketing and outreach-related tasks.

If you’re interested in global health and want hands-on experience contributing to meaningful projects, we’d love to hear from you.

Last week, Dr. Nicole Hassoun participated in a panel at the 16th Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy, an annual event by the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society (CEPS) at the University of Minho in Braga. As one of the leading European meetings in Moral and Political Philosophy, the event offered scholars the special opportunity to present their work and expand their networks.

Dr. Hassoun held a panel, alongside TU Delft doctoral student and researcher Hun Sing Yuen, highlighting the need to rethink traditional individualistic views of humanity in light of today’s global challenges. The discussion explored how philosophical traditions from around the world presented humanity as fundamentally relational, arguing that our identities, moral responsibilities, and capacity for care arise through our relationships with others rather than through isolated individual traits. Panelists also examined how this relational understanding reshaped our ethical responsibilities to future generations, non-human animals, ecosystems, and emerging technologies, offering a cross-cultural perspective on addressing complex global issues.
