Juneteenth was the oldest known observance of the ending of slavery in the United States. According to historical records, the celebration began on June 19, 1865, the day Major General Gordon Granger of the Union Army rode into Galveston, Texas in final ex*****on of the Emancipation Proclamation. The Binghamton NY area is rich in Black History and Pride. We build this community event to share in c

elebration the Freedom! This inspiring, community-building, outdoor festival will feature a variety of vendors, family activities, a health & wellness pavilion, live entertainment, a guest speakers, CHOW bus food distribution, music and much more! If anyone wants to be involved in planning this event, please feel free to email [email protected]. Everyone is invited! "The celebration of Juneteenth is not only a showcase event of the African American community's positive contributions to the American way of life, but it also makes a statement for all Americans that the United States is truly the 'Land of the Free'," says Reginald D. "Juneteenth is an expression and extension of American freedom and, like the Fourth of July, a time for all Americans to celebrate our independence, human rights, civil rights and freedom."

We were thrilled to have been a part of such a fantastic event. It was deeply fulfilling to support a cause that makes a real difference in our community. Being teamed up with some Binghamton Rumble Ponies Ruby The Rumble Pony staff members , Binghamton University researchers & Councilwoman Kinya Middleton was fantastic. The collective effort, support, and dedication truly made all the difference. Applauds & thank you to King, Amy and all those at Astor D. Rice Foundation who have dedicated their lives to continue the legacy of their father ❤️🖤💚 .

Young artists, there’s still time to turn in your work! 🙂 What does freedom for all look like to you ?
