This is what it looks like when kids get to touch, explore, and ask questions about where their food comes from. So glad we got to bring Ag Day to Port Dickinson Elementary last week! πŸ„πŸ₯🐐🐴🌱

We love getting to bring agriculture into spaces where kids might not otherwise encounter it. Yesterday's Ag Day at Port Dickinson Elementary was a perfect example of that, and it would not have happened without our Ag in the Classroom team of Nicki, Kyleigh, Linnea, and so many of our dedicated staff members who showed up and made it great. Students spent the day exploring tractors, meeting farm animals, and learning about seeds and farming in a way that goes way beyond the classroom.

We can't wait to do it again!

Meet Bill and Becca of Bottomland Farm 🌱 What started as a side hustle with a few rabbits and chickens has turned into their full-time farm in Berkshire. They raise pasture-raised broilers, pork, turkeys, and eggs, as well as offer a selection of produce, and they'll happily tell you about the spring tadpoles and songbirds that come with farming sustainably. Find them at the market every Saturday from 9 to 1.

Join CCE Broome County Educators, Master Gardeners, and the Broome Pollinator Pathway group on Saturday, June 13 from 12–4 PM at Cutler Botanic Garden for an afternoon all about the bees, butterflies, and beneficial bugs that make our food, farms, and green spaces thrive.

Stop by for a guided garden tour with CCE Nature Educator Colleen Wolpert, get tips on attracting "good bugs" to your yard, and learn why native plants are a game-changer β€” whether you're tending a backyard plot or a small urban container garden. Local pollinator-friendly organizations will be tabling all afternoon with resources to take home.

Kids are welcome and encouraged β€” there'll be games, stories, crafts, and a scavenger hunt to keep the little naturalists busy.

Free admission, with preregistration required for tours and presentations: https://loom.ly/NnBhByc

🌿 Want to make a difference on your local trails this summer? The Finger Lakes PRISM Trail Survey Program is looking for volunteers to help track high-priority invasive species across the region β€” and they'll train you on everything you need to know!

Surveys run through September 30, with virtual training sessions on June 9 and July 29, plus in-person workshops at trails near you. Once you're trained, you can survey solo or with a group β€” on your own schedule.
