The Nimmonsburg/Hillcrest Rotary celebrated the 2025-2026 Club accomplishments and the leadership of President Francis Solo. We enjoyed a fantastic Brunch menu at the historical Trailside Inn in Vestal NY.
The Club gave more to charitable causes, specifically in the area of local hunger initiatives, than ever before. We supplied personal care kits to a local emergency shelter, donated food and funds to local pantries, donation to the Vines program, provided assistance of food, clothing, household needs and program support to families in the CF and CV Districts. Our community programs include but are not limited to; Community Association donations for playgrounds, sport and safety programs, Wyoming Conference Hairs for Hope program, Warrior Fund, CF Nurses Fund, Chenango Ambulance, YWCA, Fenton Library, Ramp it Up Program, CF/CV Holiday Gifts and school supplies and more.
This year N/H Rotary sponsored the 1st Annual CHOW benefit at the CV Craft Fair. The Craft Fair has been a staple of the Holiday season for decades and it was the perfect match for a drop off of pantry supplies or donations. We collected food enough to cover approximately 800 meals. The Club plans to host this fundraiser again in November 2026 and grow our contribution to CHOW. Bring your donations to the Craft Fair, we'll make sure your bag has room for craft fair finds!
Rotary supported international programs that improve water conditions in underdeveloped nations, provided much needed school supplies and books to schools and planted trees to revitalize the eco-system. Rotary has recognized and reacted to the needs of humanity abroad, but our priority is most certainly to support our own diverse community with aid, education or celebration of our rich history.
We are proud to support both higher education and citizenship by funding the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. It is offered to as many as 6 student applicants from CF and CV. The Dr Bob Scholarship and Hillcrest Scholarship both are open to graduating senior applicants at each. CF and CV schools.
Nimmonsburg/Hillcrest Rotary lost 3 longtime, dedicated members this year, Margaret Turna, Vince Pettinato, Robert Aagre. All of these members spent decades working for the betterment of the community and the world as a Rotarian and a citizen. They will be greatly missed.
Fran is an ambitious and dedicated Rotarian and has guided the Club through a very successful year of traditional events and new experiences. He offered a sense of humor and an excellent example of leadership. Thank you Fran! Next up, past President Alan Blythe returning to the seat of 2026-27 Rotary President and he too is ambitious and creative. With these two leaders back to back, we're going to be busy!
