Donations and volunteers are needed and accepted!! Binghamton Proud!!

On April 21st,2022,Aliza Spencer's life was tragically ended. Here at the Binghamton Youth Sports Association-BYSA, we consider the Spencer family as part of our own. After discussions within our Executive Board Members and the Spencer family we have chosen to keep Aliza's name and memory alive. We would like to announce that we have made a joint decision on just how to do that...we are proud to announce The Aliza Spencer Annual Scholarship for a graduating Binghamton High School Senior. Funding for this scholarship will be raised in numerous different activities throughout the year. Our 1st fundraiser will be a Dodgeball Tournament!! We are looking for between 12-16 teams,to spend a fun filled Saturday raising money for what we believe is an outstanding cause!! If interested please message our Facebook Messenger or call 607 624-8586 and leave contact info. The tentative is date is November 7th!! Only 4 weeks away....

* To donate or volunteer for this wonderful cause, please reach out to the above mentioned communications.

Thank You

It's National Coaches Day... and you know what?

In the youth sports conversation, coaches aren't always talked about fondly, are they?

We bring up "Daddy Ball."
We mention about favoritism.
We talk about the toxic ones.

And listen:
We KNOW this is a problem that we shouldn't take lightly.
And we SHOULD keep having conversations about how we can make it better.

But do you know who often gets lost in the mix of all of that?

The good ones.

The ones who are constantly thinking about how they can be a better coach for the team and for players individually.

The ones who care just as much about developing the human who will become an adult one day, as much as they do helping the athlete learn how to compete in the game they're playing now.

The ones who support open lines of communication among coaches, players and parents and create healthy boundaries around them.

The ones who aren't afraid to hold kids accountable when they lack sportsmanship or effort, but also don't miss a chance to recognize when an athlete is showing signs of growth.

The ones who are willing to put themselves in the line of sports-parent-opinion fire because they care about helping kids fall in love with and develop in the sport.

The ones who give more time than we will ever know ... because they care about doing the right thing.

To the good ones:

In all of the negative noise around youth sports coaches..... we want you to know that we see you, too.

THANK YOU for showing our athletes what a good leader looks like.

THANK YOU for the time you didn't have to choose to give.

THANK YOU for doing what you do for the young athletes who need you most.

Thank you, Coach.
.. for all you do.

You can believe both.

You can believe we should focus on developing the athlete, and also believe we shouldn't miss developing the human being along the way.

You can believe that participation trophies shouldn't be handed out, and also believe inclusion matters in youth sports.

You can believe kids need to develop mental toughness, and also believe it's ok for an athlete to step back and care for their mental health.

You can believe kids need to learn how to lose, and also believe in not giving up on young athletes who struggle with their emotions when they do.

You can believe the best players should play, and also believe in not making cuts at young ages so kids get the experience of being on a team.

You can believe there should be healthy accountability from coaches in practice and games, and also believe toxic coaching has no place in youth sports.

Caring about more than winning and losing isn't soft.

It's making the environments in which our youth athletes play HEALTHY.

And whether these athletes have dreams to go D1 or they're just out there wanting to play the sport with their friends...
.. we should all believe they deserve an environment like THAT.

Parents, sometimes the best thing you can do is just WATCH. Let your kid play. Let the coach👉 COACH Support them, encourage them, and let the game belong to the kids. 🏀
