You might be wondering what exactly we do out here in the MANNA kitchen every week?
MANNA's mission is to provide fully prepared, nutritionally balanced, heat & eat meals to members of our community who not only struggle to afford groceries, but also lack access to a kitchen, or who are otherwise unable to cook for themselves. A segment of the population who often has difficulty receiving adequate nourishment.
Our chef inspired Prepared Meals for local food pantries utilize recovered foods from CHOW, are made right here at the SUNY Broome Culinary & Event Center in Binghamton, and are distributed for FREE at food pantries all over Broome County.
MANNA not only makes individual heat & eat Prepared Meals for local pantries to distribute, we also make large batches of our entrees that can be utilized by agencies & churches that provide free Community Meals.
We also create and deliver Medically Tailored Meals & Prescription Food Boxes boxes for qualified Medicaid recipients in our community every week. Our Medically Tailored Meals are designed with the help of a dietitian to meet an eligible recipient's individual medical needs. MANNA prepares 21 meals per week for each client (3 meals a day, 7 days a week), and delivers the entrees directly to their residence.
MANNA's SNAP eligible Prepared Meals, created with purchased ingredients, are available for sale at the Greater Good Grocery, where every MANNA meal sold funds another two meals distributed for FREE in our community!
We are proud to work with all our partners in the community toward our shared goal of making sure everyone in Broome County has access to the fresh, healthy and nutritious foods we all need to thrive!
