The Broome County Council of Churches was well represented at The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York 2026 NYS Food Summit in Albany yesterday!
BCCC Executive Director Rev. Dr. Joseph Sellepack, CHOW Director Les Aylesworth, MANNA of the southern tier Director & Executive Chef Scott Bombard and BCCC Community Health Worker Kyle Lake enjoyed this opportunity to join food assistance providers, academics, advocates, and stakeholders across New York at this all-day, symposium-style event aimed to educate and share best practices, research, and innovations in hunger relief and nutrition security efforts.
CHOW Director Les Aylesworth was honored to deliver his "More Than Hammers" presentation focusing on the need for innovative solutions to fight food insecurity. Hunger is not a one size fits all problem, and CHOW is working to add more tools to our toolbox to address the real life issues people are facing in our community, in addition to the traditional food bank/food pantry model.
Thank you to The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York for organizing this productive event, and for giving CHOW the opportunity to discuss innovative ways we can ensure our community has access to the healthy, nutritious foods we all need to thrive!
*CHOW is a proud member of The Alliance for a Hunger Free New York, acting in partnership with frontline emergency food providers across New York State to seek long term solutions for food insecurity.
