I have been named Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Inc. 2023 Woman of Distinction. They cover 24 counties in NY and 2 in PA. The only other Black woman to have received this award was Dr. Beverly Dorsey (may she rest in power) and that was 20 years ago!
So basically I’m getting a pretty prestigious award. I am not great at celebrating myself and letting others do the same and I’m trying (being forced to 🤔) to change that.
This year has been a very challenging year for me in lots of ways. Recognition (small or great) is far and few in between even though we obviously don’t do it for the praise - it is nice to be recognized and it does help me push forward when it gets tough.
These things are always timely as I also received the Alice Mills awards alongside Evon Valerio from the YWCA Binghamton in June. So I’ll be good for another decade 😂
That being said y’all please show up and show out to support me on this very important day which actually kicks off my birthday week!
