I would like to make a couple of things clear about this club and the ideals we stand for.
1. This club is for everyone: g**s, le****ns, bisexuals, transgenders, and yes, straights. Part of the beauty of this club is that it is incredibly inclusive and diverse. If you are willing to learn and be open-minded, you are always welcome.
2. If you don’t like the ideals of this club, don’t join! I can guarantee that if you disagree with what this club stands for, you will never hear from us. Think of this club like a chess club. If you are someone who doesn’t like chess, this probably isn’t the club for you. No need to bash chess players, though, just because you don’t play. Let them live. I have never and will never force or beg for anyone to be in this club. If you like what we stand for, great! We would love to have you. If not, great! Don’t join.
3. Lastly, educate yourself and understand the facts around GSAs. There are over 4,000 GSA chapters in the country. In fact, some of those chapters are in local schools around us. Understand that this club is fairly common. We aren’t here to change your minds. We aren’t here to make you uncomfortable. We are here, however, to provide a safe place; a place where LGBTQ+ students and allies can come together as one.
I hope this clarifies some disparities around our GSA. I encourage you to ask questions if you are confused and to continue to seek out knowledge.
