Friday wrapped up a busy week of training in Biloxi! 🚒

Our recruits headed to the State Fire Academy for Module 2 testing, firefighters spent the week building their skills in an Aerial Operations class, and we hosted a regional Rope Awareness and Operations course.

From recruits building their foundation to experienced firefighters sharpening their skills, the work continues to prepare for whatever the next call brings.

Thank you to the instructors, students, and participating departments for making it a productive week!

🚒**$16,600 RAISED FOR MDA!**🚒

As we wrap up our annual MDA Fill the Boot Drive, we are incredibly proud to announce that the Biloxi Fire Department raised an outstanding $16,600 this year! 💰👏

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to the wonderful citizens of Biloxi and everyone passing through our great city who took the time to donate! Whether you gave a little or a lot, every dollar makes a difference, and none of this would be possible without Y'ALL!

Having the opportunity to come together as firefighters, give back, and help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the families they serve is truly a blessing and an honor.

We are beyond grateful for the continued generosity and support our community shows us year after year. **Biloxi, you showed up once again, and we couldn't be more thankful!**

Recruit Class 2602 is in its second module, bringing together future firefighters from Biloxi, Long Beach, Ocean Springs, and Gautier.

Today’s PT featured the Hornsby Drill, named after former Vice President of Local 1583. These recruits are putting in the work, building endurance, and learning to push through challenges together.

Four departments. One class. Earning it every day. 💪🚒

Our Biloxi firefighters are out this week filling the boot for MDA! 🔥🥾

The International Association of Fire Fighters has a proud, longstanding tradition of supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Local 1583 is proud to carry that tradition forward here in Biloxi.

🚨Biloxi Fire Department Supports MDA with Annual 2026 Fill the Boot Drive!🚨

October 13th, October 14th and October 15th

This year marks the 72 years of partnership between Fire Fighters and MDA. This long-standing program raises funds to support MDA’s mission to empower people with neuromuscular diseases to live fulfilling and independent lives through research, care, community support and advocacy. This enduring partnership has become a cornerstone of the fire service, demonstrating the unwavering dedication and compassion of our fire fighting community. It’s that time of year where Fire Fighters from all over the United States are taking to the streets with boots in hand to Fill-the-Boot for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Biloxi Fire Department and Biloxi Firefighters Association IAFF Local #1583 are excited to partner with MDA once again and join in this long-standing tradition

Firefighters will be at the following locations with boots in hand!

Times:
7:00am - 8:30am and 4:30pm - 6:00pm

October 15th - Beach Blvd & Veterans Ave

Banana Ball brought the chaos last night, but the best moment for us was seeing one of our own named Firefighter of the Night at the Firefighters vs. Coconuts game! 🍌🚒

He’s our brother, a former treasurer of Biloxi Local 1583, and someone who has put in the work for this Local. Seeing him get his moment in the middle of all that Banana Ball energy was pretty damn cool.

Congratulations, brother! You earned that spotlight. 👏
