Rosie is on the move!!!! This is our hand controlled car dedicated to our Veterans and First Responders without full use of their legs or feet. Our friends at Cleburne High School Racing Team are pitching in to get the car repaired and prepared for an Apex Driving Academy trackday coming up soon.

They entered Mogadishu expecting a mission measured in hours. By the next morning, 18 Americans were dead, dozens more were wounded, and the Battle of Mogadishu had been written permanently into U.S. military history.

On October 3, 1993, Task Force Ranger launched a raid in Mogadishu, Somalia, to capture senior figures associated with warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The force included Rangers, Delta Force operators, crews from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and other special operations personnel.

The assault force captured its targets, but the mission changed dramatically when Somali fighters opened heavy fire and brought down two MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters with rocket-propelled grenades. American forces suddenly found themselves fighting through the city to reach the crash sites and recover their wounded and fallen.

At the second crash site, Master Sgt. Gary Gordon and Sgt. 1st Class Randall Shughart repeatedly volunteered to protect the downed crew of Super 64. Knowing ground forces could not reach them, the two Delta snipers were inserted and fought until both were killed. Their actions helped save pilot Michael Durant, who was captured and released 11 days later. Gordon and Shughart were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

A relief force involving the 10th Mountain Division, Malaysian armored vehicles and Pakistani forces eventually reached the trapped Americans.

Eighteen Americans died in the fighting.

Today, we remember their courage, sacrifice and the brothers who refused to leave one another behind.

Never forgotten.
