Campfire Conversations with Dr. Mikey Mewborn – Statewide Tour

In the days leading up to MPact Montana 2026, our Montana Southern Baptist family is in an important season of prayer, discernment, and unity as we prepare to consider Dr. Mikey Mewborn as our next Executive Director.

As part of that process, we’re hosting Campfire Conversations across the state—relaxed, relational gatherings designed to create space for honest conversation, thoughtful questions, and meaningful connection.

These evenings are about listening, learning, and seeking God together as we look toward the future of our convention and our churches. Think less presentation and more conversation.

📍 Join us at one of these locations:

• Easthaven - Kalispell – Sunday, March 1 | 5:00 PM
• Crosspoint - Missoula – Monday, March 2 | 12:00 PM
• Big Sky Fellowship- Helena – Tuesday, March 3 | 12:00 PM
• Emmanuel - Billings – Wednesday, March 4 | 12:00 PM
• Valley Community - Miles City – Wednesday, March 4 | 4:30 PM

Each gathering lasts about two hours, and meals or snacks will be provided.

Whether you’ve been closely involved in this season or are just wanting to learn more, we invite you to come be part of the conversation.

We’d love to see you there.

There are moments in the life of a convention when you can sense the quiet, steady hand of God at work. This feels like one of those moments.

For many months now, pastors and leaders across Montana have been praying for wisdom, unity, and clarity as we’ve walked through the search for our next Executive Director. It has been a long journey, marked by thoughtful conversations, careful discernment, and a deep desire to follow the Lord’s leading.

With grateful hearts, we are excited to share that the Executive Director Search Committee and the Executive Board have unanimously agreed to present Dr. Mikey Mewborn to the Montana Southern Baptist Convention for a vote as our next Executive Director.

Dr. Mewborn currently serves as Vice President and Dean of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, and more than his résumé, we have been moved by his love for the local church, his heart for pastors, and his passion for seeing the Gospel advance. We truly believe God has been guiding this process, step by step.

In the days leading up to Mpact 2026, Dr. Mewborn will travel across Montana so that pastors and churches can meet him, hear his heart, and begin building relationships. During Mpact 2026, our convention will come together to prayerfully consider this recommendation.

We are deeply thankful for the patience, prayers, and unity of our churches. Please continue to pray with us, asking the Lord to make His will clear and to prepare our hearts for what lies ahead.

We believe the best days of ministry in Montana are still in front of us, and we are trusting God together as we take this next step.

MPact 2026 Location update!

We want to share an important update regarding MPact 2026, and we want to do so with grateful and hopeful hearts. Due to circumstances completely outside of our control, MPact 2026 will now be held at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center. While this represents a change from our original plans, we are thankful for God’s provision of a strong, accessible venue and are confident that this gathering will still be a powerful and meaningful time for our churches.

MPact has always been about more than a location. It is about God’s people coming together for encouragement, worship, prayer, and vision for the work He is doing across Montana. That remains unchanged. We believe God will meet us, speak to us, and strengthen us as we gather together in Billings. Please know that this is a one-year change only. We have already secured the Copper King Hotel in Butte for the next three years of MPact, and we look forward to returning there very soon.

Thank you for your flexibility, your understanding, and your continued love for our convention. We are excited about what God has in store for MPact 2026!

Over the past two weeks, something remarkable has been happening in Laurel, Montana. At The Rock Church, Youth Pastor Nathan Payton has watched God move powerfully among his students, leading to the baptism of 18 young people.
What began as a normal season of youth ministry quickly turned into a wave of revival. Nathan, who has served faithfully at The Rock for several years, says the momentum didn’t come from a special event or flashy program, it came from hearts getting serious about Jesus.

“It started with a few students deciding they were done living halfway,” Nathan said. “They wanted to be all in, and when others saw that, it spread fast.”

Each baptism carried its own story. Stories of brokenness turned to hope, fear replaced by courage, and isolation replaced by community. Students have been inviting their friends, and openly sharing their faith in ways Nathan says he’s never seen before.
The Rock Church continues to see momentum building in its youth ministry, with new faces showing up every Wednesday night. Nathan and his team are focusing on discipleship, making sure each student who was baptized is growing in their faith and plugged into the community

“We don’t want this to just be a moment,” Nathan said. “We want this to be the start of a movement.”

From Laurel to Libby, Miles City to Missoula, stories like this remind us that God is at work all across Montana. Every week, churches are reaching students, strengthening families, and sharing the hope of Jesus in their communities.

SBC Votes to Keep the ERLC
Well folks, the ERLC lives to see another day! Today at the SBC, messengers voted NOT to abolish the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, so the ERLC will continue its work on behalf of Southern Baptists in the public square.
Whether you're cheering or groaning into your coffee, let’s remember that we’re on the same team. Jesus is still King, the mission is still clear, and Montana still needs the Gospel.
Let’s keep praying, keep serving, and keep loving one another—even if we don’t vote the same way.

The ballots have been cast for the question of abolishing the ERLC. Check back to see the results later this afternoon.
