Over the past two weeks, something remarkable has been happening in Laurel, Montana. At The Rock Church, Youth Pastor Nathan Payton has watched God move powerfully among his students, leading to the baptism of 18 young people.
What began as a normal season of youth ministry quickly turned into a wave of revival. Nathan, who has served faithfully at The Rock for several years, says the momentum didn’t come from a special event or flashy program, it came from hearts getting serious about Jesus.
“It started with a few students deciding they were done living halfway,” Nathan said. “They wanted to be all in, and when others saw that, it spread fast.”
Each baptism carried its own story. Stories of brokenness turned to hope, fear replaced by courage, and isolation replaced by community. Students have been inviting their friends, and openly sharing their faith in ways Nathan says he’s never seen before.
The Rock Church continues to see momentum building in its youth ministry, with new faces showing up every Wednesday night. Nathan and his team are focusing on discipleship, making sure each student who was baptized is growing in their faith and plugged into the community
“We don’t want this to just be a moment,” Nathan said. “We want this to be the start of a movement.”
From Laurel to Libby, Miles City to Missoula, stories like this remind us that God is at work all across Montana. Every week, churches are reaching students, strengthening families, and sharing the hope of Jesus in their communities.
