A refugee is someone forced to leave their country to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. While the US Refugee Admissions Program has been suspended for the foreseeable future, the vetting process was strenuous (US accepting a strict 0.2%), the wait was painstaking, and the resettlement was/is daunting.
Here are some facts about refugees you may not know:
• There are 42.7 million refugees*
• 40% are children*
• 73% of all refugees come from just 5 nations: Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Sudan*
Today we at N2N honor all refugees but especially those who are resettling into our Billings community. “Refugee” is a status, not an identity so we celebrate their resilience, diligence, and bravery.
