A strong safety culture starts long before anyone puts on a hard hat.

Training, communication, planning, accountability, and looking out for one another all play a role in creating safer jobsites.

As part of National Safety Month's focus on Holistic Worker Health, it's worth remembering that employees who feel supported, engaged, and empowered to speak up are often key contributors to a strong safety culture.

Safety isn't just about avoiding injuries. It's about creating an environment where people can do their best work and go home safely at the end of the day.

What does a strong safety culture look like at your company?

From behind-the-scenes tours and economic insight to conversations about AI, safety, and the future of our industry, the Bellevue OQM delivered exactly what makes these meetings so valuable: meaningful connections and practical takeaways.

Over three days, component manufacturers, framers, and industry partners came together to learn from one another, share experiences, and strengthen the relationships that help move businesses and the industry forward. From the Boeing Everett Facility tour to peer discussions and networking events, the Bellevue OQM was a great reminder that some of the best ideas come from spending time with others who understand your challenges and opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Bellevue and helped make the event a success.

If you missed this event, there are still plenty of opportunities to connect with the industry in 2026. Check out SBCA’s upcoming events, including BCMC 2026 in Columbus, OH, September 14–18, and our final Open Quarterly Meeting of the year this December: https://www.sbcacomponents.com/events/.

Safety Starts Before the Workday Begins

When we think about jobsite safety, we often focus on equipment, procedures, and hazard prevention. But worker health plays an important role, too.

This week, the National Safety Council's National Safety Month campaign focuses on Holistic Worker Health, recognizing that physical and mental well-being can impact performance, decision-making, and safety on the jobsite.

Fatigue, dehydration, stress, and burnout can affect anyone, regardless of experience level.

Supporting a safer workplace starts with supporting the people doing the work.

Looking to learn more? The National Safety Council has developed several resources as part of National Safety Month, including:
▶ Workplace Wellbeing: Prioritizing Safety for the Whole Worker (video)
📝 Workplace Wellbeing Quiz to test your knowledge and learn more about the factors that contribute to worker well-being

Find both resources in the comments.

What's one thing your company does to help support the well-being of your crews?

Advocacy doesn't happen in a single meeting. It's built through conversations, relationships, and showing up.

This week, SBCA's Advocacy National Subcommittee spent time in Washington, D.C., meeting with congressional offices, federal agency leaders, industry partners, and HUD staff to discuss the issues impacting structural building component manufacturers and the broader construction industry.

From workforce challenges and housing affordability to the role structural building components play in increasing housing supply, the conversations were productive, thoughtful, and focused on helping policymakers better understand the issues impacting our industry and the workforce, housing, and manufacturing policies that can help address the nation's housing crisis.

We also joined our partners in the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) along with several Members of Congress for a press conference in support of the Dignity Act, highlighting the importance of workforce policies that strengthen U.S. manufacturing, support the construction workforce, and help address the nation's housing affordability and availability challenges.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the week a success. Every meeting, conversation, and relationship helps elevate awareness of our industry, reinforces the critical role component manufacturers play in addressing the nation's housing challenges, and strengthens SBCA's position as a go-to resource on issues impacting housing, home building, construction, and manufacturing.

The work continues, but it was a strong week for advocacy and an important opportunity to ensure our industry's voice is being heard.
