In 2015, the World Trade Organization caused the repeal of MCOOL for beef. Since that time, US cattle producers have lost billions to international meat-packing conglomerates. R-Calf U.S.A CEO Bill Bullard explains why worrying about retaliation from the WTO today is a non-issue.

Help us reinstate MCOOL. Contact your local congressional leader and demand transparency in our beef markets. Demand MCOOL!

Billings Chamber Chair and management consultant for Quantica Infrastructure Jess Peterson told the New York Times residents should pack up and leave if they don’t want to live near their 5,000 acre data center that is being built just outside Broadview in Yellowstone County.

'For anyone who doesn’t like the idea of living next to a data center, he added, “there’s probably a county up the road that doesn’t have one.”'

Montana deserves better. With environmental protections gutted by the federal government, and billions pouring into the state to rush development of gas-fired power plants and tech campuses that stretch for miles, now is the time to act! Call your local state legislator and tell them you want a 2-year moratorium on data centers, so that policy can be developed to benefit Montana and protect our communities.

We are building local teams across the state! Visit our website to find out more and join a team in your area. (link below!)

20 years ago, Northern Plains members transformed a blighted property in Billings into a working demonstration of green building strategies and technologies. Many of you know our “Home on the Range” is more than an office, it’s a cultural home for our members, a training ground for grassroots leaders, and a vibrant, healthy place for our staff to thrive. As the first building in Montana and the 41st in the United States to achieve LEED Platinum certification, we love our building because it is a true symbol of our values and mission!

However, even the most cared-for buildings need a makeover from time to time and we find ourselves at this juncture once again. That’s why we’re raising $850,000 (and we're almost to our goal!) so we can break ground this August on needed upgrades and improvements.

Any amount not only makes a meaningful difference. Click the link đź”— below to help us reestablish Home on the Range as a leader in sustainable design and technology!

Over the past few months, Northern Plains leaders & organizers have had more than 100 one-on-one conversations with farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers across Montana—neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family.

We asked direct questions: What’s difficult right now? What do you want for your future? What would actually make a difference?

What we heard was consistent—and urgent. Now we’re brought those conversations back to the community.

On Monday, May 11 we hosted a gathering called the Listening Forward: A Family Ag. Round-Up. This was not just another meeting. This was the first all-in organizing conversation for Northern Plains’ family agriculture campaign. We took what we’ve heard from producers across the state and put it in front of the community to be tested, challenged, and strengthened.

If you’ve been feeling like things are getting harder, or like decisions are being made about rural communities instead of with them, this is the space where that reality is being named out loud—and organized around.

If we don’t organize around what we’re all experiencing, nothing changes. If we do, it does.
