We love success stories, and Deb’s is just that: a success. She found Off The Streets about six months ago after losing her job and ultimately losing the place where she lived. When she stayed in our emergency shelter, she was truly a “mother hen,” taking so many of her fellow residents under her wing, mentoring them, listening, and even cooking meals. After finding a job and a new place to live, today brought a new victory. She signed the paperwork on her own home. Life looks so different, and we couldn’t be happier for her! When asked what her advice might be to others struggling, she said, “Have patience. God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle. Put Him first and then you, and you can handle anything.” Wise words, Deb. She plans to come back to OTS regularly to keep encouraging those who are working to find a path forward, just like she did.

A bed is just the beginning.

At Off The Streets, we’re the only emergency shelter in our community offering dedicated case management—because real change takes more than a place to sleep.

It means walking alongside each person we serve. Setting goals. Connecting them to resources. Helping turn yesterday’s hardships into a path forward.

Meet Debra.

When the Colonial Apartments in Billings were evacuated and torn down, 62-year-old Debra says, “I had nowhere to go.” Her body broke out in a severe rash from the stress of it all. That’s when she found Off The Streets.

“They just took me right in and thank God for that because I am a totally different person than I was before,” she says.

Off The Streets linked Debra with community resources and helped her get a handle on her finances. Debra is now able to live off her social security payments. She has her own place with two roommates to help pay the bills.

”No one has ever called me a success story,” Debra says with emotion. “But, this is a success. After all the trauma, this is a success. I am so blessed to be here.”

Meet Liz.

After experiencing homelessness, she found Off The Streets and everything changed.

“I have support when I need it,” she says.

Today, Liz is employed, has a place of her own, and is working toward being reunited with her young son. Just months ago, that future felt out of reach.

Here in Billings, neighbors are still facing nights outside. That’s why our emergency shelter exists—providing warmth, safety, and rest for 30 individuals experiencing chronic homelessness each night. It may be a small number, but for them, it means everything.

While Easter was a few weeks ago, these photos we just got our hands on are too good not to share. This is what Easter looked like at Off The Streets. Nearly 100 people joined us, finding not only nourishment but a place to belong, if only for a few hours. Let me tell you about a gift that meant the world to all of us. Kayla came to us with a simple idea—to help stock our shelves at Off The Streets with much-needed items. Months later, she returned with hundreds of dollars in donations… all gathered on her own as an 8th grader. She even thought of our four-legged friends, bringing treats for them too. This sweet, selfless soul reminded us what true generosity looks like. Kayla, you (and your mom) touched our hearts more than you know. Thank you for making a difference!

Imagine our surprise when an 8th-grader in Billings reached out to us at Off The Streets to say she wanted to help make an impact. Kayla is with the Two Roads Project, and the mission is to ensure that our world grows in a positive manner through service. What a beautiful thought! She's raising funds to help us with toiletries, socks, gloves, hats, hand warmers, and hygiene products — all things needed almost daily. Kayla, thanks for your heart and for coming by to tour our shelter and meet our guests!
