A successful day of collecting willow cuttings for a Rock Creek restoration project at the Parkside Campground! MTU’s Beartooth Project Manager Katie Young and crew surpassed their goal of 80 bundles of 20 cuttings. Thanks to MCFF members Ray Gilbertson and Kris Spanjian for helping out as well as the other conservation- minded volunteers from Red Lodge and Bozeman!

Join MTU Beartooth Project Manager Katie Young to help restore riverbanks of Rock Creek! We’ll be cutting willows for planting to repair erosion and enhance habitat. Thank you Mike Stevens for an entertaining program Tuesday night on the challenges of fishing the Thorofare- the most remote wilderness in the lower 48. The Magic City Fly Fisher’s meeting was well attended, as usual.
Mike is planning an affordable, no frills trip to the Yucatan for juvenile tarpon next Spring and is looking for fellow anglers to join him- so stay tuned for further information!

The Roadless Rule is on the chopping block! This Administration opines that it hampers wildland fire fighting but the evidence is to the contrary. In fact, repealing the Roadless Rule will likely result in more fires. Go to tu.org to review data and submit your comments. Roadless areas protect wildlife habitat and clean water! Comment period ends September 21st so don’t delay!
