Not In Our Town Billings

Not In Our Town Billings Not In Our Town Billings is a non-profit organization committed to a safe and inclusive community. We will work to Stop Hate. Together.

For more than twenty years Not in Our Town Billings has stood for dignity, fairness, and equality. NIOT has stood with those being treated hatefully through words and/or actions. A hate crime made headlines recently in Billings, but people across the city quickly responded to change the story to one of love and support. The spirit that spawned Not in Our Town is alive and well. Ordinary actions ta

ken by ordinary people in an extraordinary way make all the difference. Our community standing together sends a powerful message and creates new ways to stand against hate. This defines Billings as a community of acceptance and respect for all. To further strengthen this commitment, Not in Our Town Billings is planning events to encourage, guide and support all who want to find ways to stand up to hate. Our goal has always been to help those who want to move from being just a bystander to becoming "up-standers." Up-standers speak up and take action for themselves and others. Not in Our Town is committed to education, prevention and creation of a positive climate where all are accepted, and diversity is welcomed. Bullying and intolerance have no place in Billings.

This isn’t ok…if you can help please reach out to the church

406 Pride stands in solidarity with Mayflower Congregational UCC, which was vandalized last night with spray-painted swastikas and an anti-q***r slur. This is the most recent in a series of hateful instances of vandalism in the Billings community, including tearing down flags and signs at local homes and churches.

These acts are hateful and cowardly, and they are antithetical to the spirit of inclusivity and acceptance for which 406 Pride advocates in Billings and eastern Montana. Mayflower Church has been one of our recognized Affirming Faith Communities for a number of years. We are grateful for their history of publicly supporting LGBTQ+ causes in our community, truly living into their commitment as an Open & Affirming church of the United Church of Christ.

406 Pride denounces these violent words and White Supremacist symbols intended to spread fear among marginalized populations in our city. We stand steadfast with Billings’ affirming churches in the shared work of building inclusive communities of support, and advocating for the rights of people of all identities, races, and backgrounds. In a spirit of q***r joy, we urge our local LGBTQ+ community to resist the call to fear, and remember: You matter. You are loved. You belong.
