Handwritten thank you notes are a symbol of a high quality human being. Nothing against sending an e-mail or pdf resume, but it strikes my heart as a small-time sponsor participant in the sport of flat track to receive a handwritten note.

I've been helping kids in the sport since 2003, and the universal truth is that the young people that have sent handwritten thank you notes (some along with photos, tee shirts, posters, etc) have proven to be high quality human beings...on the track, and importantly, off the track when they choose to move to the next chapter(s) of their life.

If you have not yet seen the documentary by Wendy Schneider, find a screening (like a the Springfield Mile) and watch it. It characterizes the so many positive, family oriented traits of the sport of flat track in addition to tragic loss. It is a moving piece that everyone in our sport should see as a follow up to On Any Sunday.

As I am getting some of the details ready for the Montana showing of Angels Of Dirt , Facebook pops up a memory photo when Charlotte Kainz and her father Jack Kainz were in Billings racing on our short track. Thank you to Mr. Kainz for your donation to the movie showing. Yet another example of the strength and love that exists in the flat track racing community.
