The Biglerville Historical and Preservation Society promotes the history of the Borough of Biglerville, as well as the apple industry in Adams County through the National Apple Museum in Biglerville, PA. Its goals were to create a museum facility to honor, archive, promote and display material, memorabilia, and equipment of the Apple and Fruit Industry in Adams County. Clair Ditzler, a founding me

mber of the society, subsequently donated to the society a number of acres of his farm as well as his barn to house the future museum. Later, he headed the effort to upgrade and modernize the barn to house the museum. The National Apple Museum subsequently was opened to the public in 1990. While the meeting room and pavilion are available for meetings and events, the National Apple Museum itself is currently closed. A small group of volunteers is currently working to resurrect the BHPS, make needed repairs to the second floor of the barn, and eventually re-open the museum to the public.
