Troop 1923 scout Kent Sugden was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor September 14th, at Herron Park. Kent has been involved in Scouting since he was six years old. He has earned a total of 30 merit badges in scouts, and his Eagle Service Project was installing plant identification signage along a nature trail at Herron Park. Kent has also served on staff for National Youth Leadership Training for the past two years. While he will turn 18 later this fall, Kent will continue in Scouting as a member of the Flathead Venturing Crew.

This past Sunday, scouts with Bigfork Troop 1923 and Pack 4928 performed a flag ceremony in downtown Bigfork in conjunction with the Rumble in the Bay car show. The national anthem was sung, and there was even a flyover by a vintage airplane. Great job scouts!

To complete his Eagle project, Kenton installed posts along Herron Park’s nature trail. The posts were for signs that would identify plants along the trail. The Scouts of Troop 1923 helped Kenton, and earned service hours for rank advancement.

Thank you Bigfork for your support in making our Mother's Day pancake breakfast a success again this year! The Scouts and their fathers had a great time serving approximately 150 people. Special thanks to Bigfork Harvest Foods for your generous donation of food, the Bigfork Masons for use of the lodge, and Stampede Packing in Kalispell. Proceeds from the event are helping fund the boys involvement in Melita Island summer camp, which they will be attending in August.

TBT-This past March 27-28, ten members of Troop 1923 participated in the "Merit Badge University" at Carroll College in Helena. Our scouts earned a total of 14 merit badges, and five partial completions. Merit badges earned included Citizenship in the World, Robotics, Chess, Geology, and Chemistry. Several scouts received "partials" for dog care, and have to take care of their family dogs for two months to complete the badge. On Friday night, scouts "camped" on the floor of the gymnasium... what a crowd. Way to go guys!

Nine scouts with Troop 1923 camped out at Grizzly Base Camp this weekend, in the awesome "Sasquatch" campsite (Thanks Troop 1901). Had a great time practicing axmanship, fire building, hiking, fishing, cooking, and a whole lot of messing around. Great fun!
