Hello Everybody at The Edge,
I’m Shirley—most of you know me as Ms. Shirley, and that suits me just fine.
I’m sure some of you are thinking, “It’s about time for an update on The Edge!” So let me start with a little background.
The Edge was founded in 2000 as a place for youth to gather, connect, and simply enjoy being together. It’s been around a long time, and I truly believe it will continue for many years to come.
Like many places, we’ve had our share of ups and downs—especially since 2020 when COVID shut so much down. During that time, we took the opportunity to do some remodeling. After reopening, we faced a few unexpected challenges (including a drop ceiling that decided to come down on us), along with the kind of repairs that come with a building that’s over 80 years old.
But through it all, I want you to know this—I have never forgotten about you, and I have never forgotten about The Edge. It means so much to our youth and to our community. I truly believe in its purpose: providing a safe, fun, educational, and encouraging place for young people.
So here’s where we are now.
Before my foot surgery last October, I had been working with youth completing community service hours at The Edge. That surgery set me back for a few months, but I’m thankful to be walking better now. It’s time to regroup, refocus, and move forward.
Our goal is to reopen The Edge by June.
We’ve made great progress with remodeling, and now we’re entering an important phase. What we need most is you—young people willing to volunteer your time and energy to help shape The Edge into something meaningful in your lives.
Because that’s what has always made The Edge special… you.
I've posted what the Edge is, but it is something much more than that.
We need your help, message me if you want to be part of something great!
