🌟 We had so much fun at Morningstar Learning Center!

🦦 Our curious group shared all about the animals that live in or around the Gallatin River (moose, bears, otters, and geese!) and we explored our local macroinvertebrates.

💙 Thanks for having us Morningstar, and thanks for shining so brightly!!

💩WOW! 151.8 lbs. of pet and other waste was removed from our local trails and neighborhoods during this year’s Runoff Cleanoff event.

🐶 Huge thanks to all our amazing volunteers who came out to scoop the p**p this past week in order to help keep our trails clean and our waterways healthy.

🎟️ Congratulations to Franco and Bob for winning the volunteer raffle!

🐾 Special thanks to our partners at Big Sky Community Organization, Dee-O-Gee, and Athletic Brewing for donating some amazing prizes.

🦴If you’d like to continue your support, we’d love to see you later for the rescheduled Hummocks Trail cleanup. More updates and information coming soon! Please reach out if you have any questions.

💡Remember to always clean up after your furry friends to help prevent nutrient runoff.

📉This warm and dry spring got us curious about historic runoff statistics on the Gallatin, so we dug into the data from the USGS Gallatin Gateway gage—the longest data set that we have for streamflow in our area, measured in cubic feet per second (cfs or ft3/s). Here’s what we found:

🔹Average peak flow: 5,311 cfs
🔹Lowest peak flow: 1,740 cfs in 1934 (only four other years were less than 3,000 cfs)
🔹Highest peak flow: 9,160 cfs in 1997
🔹Average peak flow date: June 6
🔹Earliest peak flow date: May 8 in 1934
🔹Latest peak flow date: July 4 in 1975

We won’t set a new record for lowest peak flow this year—the river already reached 2,520 cfs on May 14, though we can’t be sure about this year’s peak until the weather unfolds over the next few weeks.

✨Wow.

We are in awe of the generosity our community showed during Give Big.

🎉 Thanks to 63 donors — giving from $25 - $5,000 — we met our $30,000 goal. This support will help:

🌊Protect & restore the Upper Gallatin River & its tributaries
💦 Conserve our water supply
💙 Inspire stewardship in our community

We’d like to give a great big thanks to all who donated or helped spread the word. Your gifts enable this critical work.

🌌 We’re glowing like the aurora borealis! Why? We’ve raised more than 75% of our funding goal—and we’re so grateful to those who have already supported our Gallatin River restoration campaign.

Right now, we need your help to raise the final $90,000.

When you give, you’re not just making a donation—you’re becoming a steward of this vital river, ensuring it remains healthy and publicly accessible for years to come. Your donation supports:
